We’re a social enterprise that offers expert guidance and training to support mental health.
About us
We are Mental Health First Aid England. We’re a social enterprise with a vision to improve the mental health of the nation. Our evidence-based training gives people tools to support themselves and each other, so everyone can talk about mental health and seek help when needed. Most adults spend at least a third of their time at work, so we start there to change how society deals with mental health now and in the future. Over the last decade, we’ve provided expert consultancy and training to over 20,000 workplaces. We want mentally healthy workplaces for all. We campaign for equality between mental and physical health in the workplace. We advocate a whole organisation approach and lead by example. As a social enterprise, we reinvest our profits to support the next generation. We offer free and discounted training to those in the sports and recreation sectors working with young people. Together, let’s create a society where everyone’s mental health matters.

📢 Today marks a pivotal moment for mental health care in the UK with the introduction of the new Mental Health Bill to Parliament. MHFA England® welcomes these long-overdue reforms as a step towards a system that values mental health as much as physical health. With one in four people experiencing a mental health issue annually and over 1.9 million individuals waiting for care, change is crucial. Our Chief Executive, Sarah McIntosh, highlights the significance of the proposed changes: giving patients greater say in their care, limiting inappropriate detention of people with autism and learning disabilities, and introducing statutory care and treatment plans are just some of the ways this bill aims to safeguard dignity and improve outcomes. Yet, reform alone won’t be enough—adequate funding, early intervention, and addressing root causes of inequality will be key to creating lasting change. Let's advocate for a mental health system that serves everyone. 🌱 Read the full statement on our website: https://brnw.ch/21wOpTx #MentalHealthMatters #EqualityInHealth #MentalHealthReform #PatientAdvocacy #MentalHealthForAll (Image description: Big Ben is on the right side of the image with the Houses of Parliament visible to the left. All too often, mental health stigma combined with a lack of connections, traps and isolates us. Approaching someone about their mental health does not have to be complicated. Sometimes, it can be as simple as having a conversation with them. #WorkplaceWellbeing #MentalHealthConversations #EverydayMentalHealth #MHFA #MentalHealthFirstAiders

🌍 As we observe National Stress Awareness Day, it's crucial to remember that mental health in the workplace isn't just a buzzword—it's a necessity! With the fast-paced nature of our lives, chronic stress is lurking around every corner, just waiting to catch us off guard. We recently heard from Marissa Desoysa, People Change Lead at the Department of Work and Pensions, who emphasised the importance of nurturing our mental wellbeing through self-care *and* self-compassion. 💪✨ Read her thoughts: https://brnw.ch/21wOpzl #NationalStressAwarenessDay #WorkplaceStress #Stress #SelfCare #Leadership #Skills #MHFA #MentalHealthFirstAid (Image description: A hand is seen touching a mirror to create a heart shape.
