Here’s the one thing I wish I knew when I had a job and before I became a founder “You don’t have to be rich to be an angel investor” I had a perception that you had to be rolling in dough to be an angel but it’s just not the case I’ve learned so much now that I’m on the side of potentially raising cash but wow has it made me realise my peers who are working just don’t know about this world of opportunities There’s definitely need for education around angel investing, and with 40% of wealth held by females in Scotland… There’s a huge opportunity to learn more about becoming an angel Recommend taking a read of this article: https://lnkd.in/eBiTimpR The Scotsman Gillian Fleming Mint Ventures [unrelated photo]

Message from Jenny Tooth OBE about the continuation of EIS/SEIS: We are delighted to let you know that the UK Government has finally been informed by the EC of their approval under EU State Aid rules of the request for the continuation of the EIS and SEIS schemes and VCT scheme from the original Sunset Clause ending the schemes in 2025 to April 2035. The schemes are approved in their entirety, also including the Knowledge Intensive EIS Scheme. This approval is set out in the EC published document which you can read, particularly referencing the detailed decisions from para 102 onwards: https://lnkd.in/edfDDG4Q We will provide any further information received in due course, but I am sure you will agree that this an excellent start to the Bank Holiday Weekend and gives renewed certainty to investors and entrepreneurs and a great boost to our work across the UK in supporting investment in entrepreneurship and innovation going forwards.

Inclusive Leadership | NED’s| Future Leaders| Boards | Culture Change | Diversity | Professional Development | Energy Sector Expertise and Connections| ICF Qualified Career Coach | Mentor

I am not sure I have time to be on a board “I’ll do it when…” Get started. Start small. Just joining a local community or charity board now will mean that when you reach the point in your career where you can take on larger paid roles, like those below, you will have gained some knowledge and experience. I usually post roles from our Women on Boards UK vacancy board on Fridays. Roles on arts boards, sports boards, housing associations and NHS Trusts. I do my weekly post to encourage companies to see the value and help their staff get started on the leadership development that being a NED brings. Our individual members get access to our vacancy board of roles, 1:1 interview support, our resource centre, our community of other people all looking for their first board roles. Corporates like those on the link buy packages of memberships for staff (plus our flagship Talks and Workshops).  However, as it’s Summer, I am just posting one biggie a week.  Have a great weekend! Mint Ventures portfolio company Heero Technologies - the high-growth clean tech software and data company based in Dundee has recently increased its headcount to five employees. The company, led by Nicola Kennedy and with Deborah Hudson as Chair, perfectly fits the Mint Ventures criteria for investment and were delighted to be part of Heero's follow on investment round with a wider consortium of investors in April. The Heero App delivers personalised home energy efficiency recommendations, and also addresses challenges such as the disruption caused by invasive retrofit measures, confusion over financing and government grants for energy efficiency. The new Labour government is committed to upgrading the 19 million UK homes below the EPC band C standard within the next decade and has already committed £6.6 billion to its Warm Homes Plan, which seeks to upgrade 5 million homes over the current parliament presenting an exciting opportunity for Heero.
