What a night of brilliance ✨ We were thrilled to sponsor The Black Scottish Awards 2024 and participate as a judge, with our senior executive, Maya Rousen, proudly presenting the prestigious Business of Excellence of the Year award on the night 🏆 The event celebrated outstanding individuals making a tremendous impact across Scotland and the UK, with innovators from healthcare, technology, finance, the creative industries and beyond. Selecting the Business of Excellence winner was no easy feat, but after a competitive process, Livingston-based Matugga Distillers stood out. This rapidly growing company's journey from a small artisanal producer to an internationally recognised brand has been nothing short of remarkable. It exceeded its crowdfunding targets, doubled its turnover, built strong university partnerships, and showcased a commitment to ethically sourced products and inclusive work culture—a truly deserving winner 🙌 A special thanks to event founder Enoch Adeyemi for creating such an inspiring event that champions a diverse, ambitious and innovative workforce. We’re proud to support this initiative and look forward to potentially welcoming some of these talented individuals to our team. Not only was it Scotland’s Climate Week this week, but across the pond, it was also #ClimateWeekNYC🗽 So this gave us the perfect opportunity to showcase the expertise, innovation and ambition of Scottish companies and how their technology will play a crucial role in the race to net zero 💙 Many innovative Scottish companies see the U.S as a key location not only for potential trade, but also for fundraising and investment opportunities 💰 And this week we’ve supported 7 innovative business to tap into opportunities in this market, via a range of activities. Prior to arriving in New York, our cohort of companies began preparations by attending a session in Edinburgh to understand the key differences between the U.S. and UK/European markets, in particular the ins and outs of raising capital from U.S venture capital investors. Understanding best practices around raising capital continued upon arrival in NYC, with a session at PJT Partners. This was followed by our investor showcase, which we hosted at Edrington Americas HQ on 5th Avenue, giving the companies the opportunity to pitch to global investors, GlobalScots and stakeholders about the amazing work they’re doing in the climate tech and clean tech space. Our companies also heard from GlobalScot and Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company, Mark Patel, who shared how McKinsey's approaches are helping companies accelerate their path to net zero. The New York City Economic Development Corporation also shared how companies can expand into the U.S market via New York as their entry point 📈 Huge thanks to everyone who supported us to show Scotland as a place to invest and scale a startup. And of course a massive well done to Beta Bugs Limited, Roslin Technologies, Kingdom Technologies, Exergy3 Limited, Zumo, Earth Blox and Trojan Energy 👏 We can’t wait to hear the outcome of your pitches 🤞🏼 We are committed to supporting Scottish companies with their growth aspirations, particularly around their innovative technology and how it can help in the global journey to net zero. If you’re like to learn more about how we can help ambitious, innovative companies like yours to attract growth investment either in Scotland or from overseas, please visit our website and get in touch with our Entrepreneurship and Investment team 👉 https://ow.ly/rXoO50TwoZe #Investment
