Tackling the climate crisis means getting the UK to net zero by 2050. The way we heat our buildings accounts for a quarter of the country's carbon emissions, so encouraging the adoption of renewable alternatives such as heat pumps is critical if we are to achieve the challenging legal targets ahead of us. The Mitsubishi Electric team were in Westminster this week, kindly hosted by Wera Hobhouse MP, to discuss what the government and industry need to do to decarbonise our buildings with key stakeholders across the sector including business leaders, regulators, think tanks and academics. Our thanks to Wera for hosting us for a fascinating and informative discussion, which will lead to a new report, published later this year, examining what next steps we need to take to reach net zero buildings. In partnership with ENVIRONCOM ENGLAND LIMITED, Mitsubishi Electric's comprehensive Recycling Programme collects and recycles old HVAC equipment ♻️. This programme gives installers an easy to use and certificated route for disposal of end-of-life equipment. Helping them to ensure that old or defunct air conditioning units are dismantled in a compliant manner, in line with current legislation, installers that are part of our Partner Programme can also use their Relationship Development Fund (RDF) to pay for collection in a hassle-free experience. Since residual refrigerants in redundant HVAC units can harm the ozone layer, if released, Environcom ensures safe extraction by processing gas on-site through Geri (Gas Energy Recovery Incinerator) 🤝 Learn more about the programme here: https://ow.ly/465w50TPTnV #RecyclingScheme #RecyclingProgramme #Sustainability #MitsubishiElectric #LowCarbon #BuiltEnvironment #BuildingServices #SustainableFuture #Decarbonisation

On Thursday 26th September 2024 we invited M&E’s from across London to join Mitsubishi Electric at the Building Centre to discuss how we can work together to decarbonise the existing London building stock. The group heard from Rt. Hon the Lord Deben, highlighting the impact global warming has had over the last few years and the devastating consequences we will face if we don't act now. We also heard from Mitsubishi Electric's Zero Carbon Design Manager, Chris Newman who addressed the importance of retrofitting our built environment if we are to meet our 2050 targets. We have a number of resources available to help navigate the road to Net Zero including our latest whitepaper, 'HVAC Retrofit - Considerations for Commercial Buildings: Setting the Stage for Efficiency and Sustainability'. This guide is aimed at helping both building owners and contractors understand the key principals of retrofitting.
