As part of #WorldMentalHealthDay, the MND Scotland team have been doing some mindful colouring-in today 🎨 Work can have a huge impact on our mental health, and we believe creativity and self-expression can be powerful tools for giving a sense of purpose, reducing stress, boosting self-worth, and providing opportunities to connect with others. By arranging activities like these, we hope to highlight the importance of mental health, as well as removing any stigma that may still exist around it 💙 For more information, please visit: https://lnkd.in/dSxu45e

🌹 MND Scotland Charity Rose 🌹 The Sunset Isle MND Charity Rose is named in memory of Richard Crawford, who bravely lost his life to MND in March 2022 and enjoyed watching the sunsets on his beloved island of Orkney. Autumn is a superb time to plant as the soil is still warm from the summer and can help the plant get established before the cold, winter months arrive. Each purchase helps us continue to support and make time count for families affected by MND, as 10% of the retail sales from each rose will go directly to MND Scotland. Available to purchase from Blue Diamond Garden Centres and online from the Fryer’s Roses website, buy yours today and help make a difference: https://lnkd.in/ecFcCfYD #MNDScotland #CharityRose #MakeTimeCount

We would like to thank everyone who attended our LEARN event in Glasgow last week. It was great so many people were able to come along to the event, and our team really enjoyed meeting you all 💙 We would like to thank Dr Hannah Smith, Dr Natasha Fullerton, Amy Stenson and Ethan Stoker for their valuable input and presenting on the day. If you were unable to attend, we will be uploading the LEARN presentations to our YouTube channel some time after the final local event at the end of October. You can keep an eye on our social media channels for updates on when they have been uploaded. In just a few weeks, we will welcome those affected by MND to meet with our research team in Dundee for our next LEARN event to explore the latest developments in research and to build relationships between those with lived experience to make sure that research reflects the needs of people we support. Event details: 📍 Dundee Science Centre Café, 14 Greenmarket, Dundee DD1 4QB 📆 Thursday 24th October 2024 🕙 2:00 pm For more information or to book your free place, please visit the MND Scotland website: https://lnkd.in/e5EENkQd

📢 Final reminder of closing date for PhD studentship 📢 MND Scotland is committed to ‘making time count’ for people affected by MND and our core strategic goals include working in partnership to enable transformation in MND research and investing in ground-breaking research to change the future for people with MND. We are partnering with LifeArc to fund one PhD studentship to start in 2025 to increase research into improving MND diagnosis or identifying biomarkers for use in MND research or care. Our PhD studentships are designed to encourage young science graduates within the UK to embark on a research career in MND. For this MND Scotland-LifeArc jointly funded studentship, we welcome applications from all disciplines (including, but not limited to, laboratory-based, translational and clinical research, engineering, machine learning, and data-based science) but are specifically inviting projects aimed at improving the diagnosis pathway for MND or identifying biomarkers for use in MND research or care. The deadline for this funding call is 11:59 pm on 31 October 2024. More information can be found on our website: https://lnkd.in/d5JeMEpB
