Writing?
I hit drums, play guitar, sing, DJ, collect records and dabble in the dark art of recording. I also write about musicians and our psychological world. https://lnkd.in/dBWgJ2kQ
Love music hate racism, should we divide ourselves within music or outside...?
Here's something I wrote about musicians, peer groups and contact bias theory. Do exclusive groups help or hinder, especially when it comes to musicians, should we segregate into specific factors? What about genre? As musicians are we more divided culturally, by genre, by our musicking roles. In these modern times of great divide, is it really helpful? Who knows?.... https://lnkd.in/eX6Cx-e4

Musicking means everything.
A recent piece I created for Flare Audio, a fantastic company that supply a range of audio products especially embraced by the sound sensitivities of the neurodivergent community. #neurodivergentmusicking #flareaudio https://lnkd.in/eKHtymjK
As the Tonic Music for Mental Health ADHD peer group comes to a close I'm reminded of this amazing piece by Harold Heath. In the article I talk about the high octane environment of the music industry. For me it was the most perfect and imperfect world to frame, fuel and exhaust a neurodivergent's nuanced inner sanctum. This is a growing area, watch this space! #musiciansmentalhealth #neurodivergentmusicians https://lnkd.in/eyemipTq
Nice piece in the NME today

Some quotes from my latest musicians and mental health report. ‘It’s business but the product is a human being’ ‘I was asking myself, okay, am I here because I'm good enough for this? Or am I here because I'm a black woman and now it's a trend to have a black woman in a band? ‘I’ve walked on stage and somebody shouted “get your ...... out for the lads” and you’re just like, that was my first, my first gig! ‘You need the public to understand that. It might look like I’m just shouting down a microphone. It might look like they’re just playing a guitar, but with that comes all the stress because you do it one night, fantastic. You got to do it ten more times now, and with that, comes exhaustion. Do I want to be doing it anymore?’ It's important we amplify the voices of real musicians and their struggles. Don't forget there is free UK support out there for any musicians and industry personnel who are struggling. See Tonic Music, Help Musicians, BAPAM and Music Support for free, 'not-for-profit' resources, support and scaffolding. #mentalhealthweek #musiciansmentalhealth https://lnkd.in/eeyt3jkW
Are you a musician or industry associate? know your 'musicking continuum'? A good tool to use when evaluating where you position yourself mentally. #musiciansmentalhealth #notforprofit #Tonicmusicformentalhealth https://lnkd.in/eNfMfHzx
