Tonic Music for Mental Health
Non-profit Organizations
Registered charity establishing good mental health within music communities
About us
Our mission is to establish good mental health within music communities. Tonic Music was founded in 2012 upon the belief that participation in music is good for mental health. Originally based in Portsmouth, we have developed into a registered charity operating across the UK, through the provision of in-person and online services. From our initial work raising awareness, we now champion action. This is achieved by providing mental health support to ensure people continue to professionally and recreationally engage in music. The Tonic Music team includes qualified mental health practitioners, each with significant experience participating in music as an occupation or hobby. We provide accessible programmes of mental health support tailored for the following music communities: • music industry - people who professionally engage in music (Tonic Rider) • music fans - people who recreationally engage in music (Never Mind The Stigma) • music youth - organisations engaging young adults in music (Tonic Futures) Our programmes equip people with essential mental health skills to support themselves, their peers and the wider music communities. Within the programmes, we provide four types of mental health support: 1. Therapeutic Sessions 2. Peer Groups 3. Preventative Workshops 4. Training Courses Each programme also includes bespoke mental health resources in the form of zines, posters and other assets, which we provide to all venues, studios and retailers within music communities. Alongside this, we also provide mental health outreach services for music communities front-of-house and backstage at gigs, festivals and other events. Please note, Tonic Music is not a crisis service - we are unable to provide emergency or urgent support.
