📣 CONFERENCE SESSION ANNOUNCEMENT 📣 🎤 Session: Who are we supporting: Insight from BERRI data about young people in Supported Accommodation Delivered by: Dr Miriam Silver Dr Miriam Silver will present insights from the data that they have collected from 15,000 uses of BERRI with children in care. This shows how young people in supported accommodation are similar to and different from young people of the same age living in residential care. In particular, there are differences in the domain of risk, which present unique challenges for young people in supported accommodation. There is a lot of discussion about the use of supported accommodation compared to residential care, but as an objective clinician/researcher, Miriam will present the findings from the unique perspective of having unbiased data about young people completed by placements and local authorities in lots of different settings. She can show how children in supported accommodation differ from those in residential care, and discuss how certain types of risk are more prevalent in supported accommodation settings, as well as who is most at risk and what we can do to manage that risk. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🎤 About Dr Miriam Silver Dr Miriam Silver is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist known for making psychological knowledge about trauma, attachment and neurodevelopmental conditions more accessible to wider audiences. She contributed to numerous policy and best practice publications, and wrote the critically acclaimed book “Childhood Trauma and Attachment in Common Sense and Doodles”. After two years as clinical director for a major residential care provider, she now leads BERRI, making scientifically validated online tools to help identify and support children's psychological needs. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🎟️ Not got your The National Supported Accommodation Conference (NSAC) tickets yet?
