Renewable Energy Power Generation

Living Energy

About us

We’re Nadara, one of Europe’s largest renewable energy independent power producers. We own and operate around 200 renewable energy sites across Europe and the US, producing electricity from wind, solar, waste-to-energy, and biomass. Every day, we harness the power of nature for good. The most obvious way is by generating dependable renewable energy, but this is just the beginning. We strive to make a deeper impact, seizing the opportunity to live renewable energy in the decisions we make and actions we take, both big and small. We call this living energy. It sees us connecting with people, contributing to communities, and caring for the natural world. Guided by our values of impact, care and connection we work together to make our global and local impact as positive as possible.

Next month, we’ll be back at WindEurope - this time in Copenhagen - following a fantastic event last year in Bilbao. Our CEO, Toni Volpe, will attend alongside Rui Maia, Carmelo Scalone, and colleagues from the Growth, Sustainability, and Transformation teams. Roberta Travisi, our Head of Regulatory Engagement and Advocacy, will join the panel ‘Auction Design: Getting It Right’. On Wednesday, 9 April, at 4pm, we’ll also host our own side event: ‘Local Energy, Local Impact: Approaches to Enhance Community Acceptance – Panel Discussion’. We’ve been collecting empty boxes and packaging - both from our Lisbon office and from colleagues’ homes - and delivering them to Mind The Trash, Portugal’s first Zero Waste online store. These materials are reused for shipping, refilling bulk detergents, or even turned into containers for solid shampoos. This initiative has already made a difference: ✔️ Reduced waste in the office – all computer equipment boxes, biscuit boxes, tea packages, and other packaging is reused instead of being sent directly for recycling. ✔️ Reduced waste from employees – colleagues redirected boxes from personal orders and household packaging for reuse and/or direct recycling. ✔️ Contributed to the circular economy – supporting material reuse and waste reduction. Catarina Matos, from Mind The Trash, shared her thoughts on this partnership: “This initiative is a true example of how collaborations between companies can create meaningful impact. By collecting and donating empty boxes, detergent containers, and other packaging materials, Nadara is reducing waste within its own operations while also supporting a more circular system.” Thanks to this effort, at Mind The Trash, we are able to give a second life to materials that are still in perfect condition, using them for order shipments, bulk detergent refills, and even as recycled solid shampoo travel boxes. Because of these donations, we don’t need to purchase new materials, avoiding unnecessary resource consumption and making use of what already exists.” A big thank you to everyone in our Lisbon office for contributing, and to Catarina Miranda Oliveira, Ricardo Minau, and Hugo Galinha for making this happen! #Sustainability

Connection is key! Last week at KEY - The Energy Transition Expo, we were especially honoured by a visit from Italy’s Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, of the Ministero dell'Ambiente e della Sicurezza Energetica, who stopped by our stand. During the three days of the fair, our colleagues from Development, Execution, Asset Management, Energy Markets, and Procurement had around 80 meetings with partners, suppliers, and industry experts. We also had four speakers at conferences: Gianluca Cipolletta, Ksenia Balanda, Pietro Torretta, and Antonio Zingales. It was a fantastic few days of connections and insights—have a look at the highlights in our photo gallery. Next stop: WindEurope!

As we approach International Women’s Day, we are reflecting on the role of diversity in shaping the future of renewable energy.   🔎 Diversity is a real value at Nadara; we recognise the creative potential that individuals of different backgrounds and abilities bring to their work. While women currently make up 32% of the sector’s workforce, there are wide ranging benefits and opportunities that can come from attracting more women and girls to the industry. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where all our people can reach their full potential and maximise their contribution.   An inclusive industry isn’t just about fairness, it’s also about education and innovation. When diverse voices contribute to problem-solving, we unlock more creative solutions to the challenges of the energy transition. Whether in leadership, engineering, commercial strategy, or stakeholder engagement, women are driving real change in renewables.   This IWD, let’s celebrate the incredible talent shaping our industry and commit to creating even more opportunities for the next generation of women in energy!   👇 Swipe below to read important insights from a few of Nadara’s renewable energy leaders: Fjoralba Koci, Joanna Ellis and Giulia Privitera.   #IWD #DiversityInEnergy

We recently hosted a STEM event at Strathaven Academy with 3DW, a company providing interactive 3D models to support planning and consultation activities associated with wind farm development. Using science, technology, engineering and maths skills, 30 pupils developed their own virtual 3D model of a wind farm, helping them understand the complexities of designing wind farms. At Nadara, we recognise the importance of engaging the young people of today who will drive the solutions of tomorrow. This session is just one of many events we hold throughout the year as part of our wider effort to inspire the next generation of thinkers and spark a passion for the renewable energy industry in young people. Last month, we had the pleasure of hosting students from the Master of Science in Management - Università Cattolica for a company visit, where we shared insights into our business and discussed our vision for the future. During their visit, students explored our approach to innovation and the challenges we tackle daily. They also heard from Giulia Privitera and Federica Inzoli from our Sustainability team, who highlighted our commitment to responsible business practices and the importance of integrating sustainability into long-term strategy. A big thank you to the students for their curiosity and active participation! It’s inspiring to see so many bright minds ready to shape the future—we can’t wait to see where their journey takes them.
