#Wales has made strides in the #HIV response, with significant drops in new diagnoses and a bold commitment to end new transmissions by 2030. However, supporting people living with HIV to live well is an ongoing challenge. Alessandro Ceccarelli, one of the co-founders of the Fast Track #Cymru initiative and a Trustee at National AIDS Trust, reflects on the progress made so far - and the crucial steps needed to ensure all individuals living with HIV can thrive:

We welcome new Information Commissioner's Office guidance about personal #HIV data breaches. "The stigma and discrimination experienced by people living with HIV is compounded by the additional distress caused by unlawful data breaches", said our Policy Manager Adam Freedman, who worked with the ICO on ensuring that the harms of personal HIV data breaches are recognised and understood. You can read more on our website about how we worked with the regulator to achieve this real, tangible change in the lives of people living with or affected by HIV: https://lnkd.in/dZMy-UiW
NEW: John Edwards, Information Commissioner has called on organisations to do better when dealing with data breaches and consider the person at the centre. Read more in his latest blog:

The Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government can do more to improve the quality of life of people living with HIV in #Wales. HIV Outcomes UK highlights the areas where action is needed in the new report "Living well with #HIV in #Wales", produced in collaboration with Fast Track #Cymru. It comes out a year after the publication of the HIV Action Plan, which included important commitments to support people to live well with HIV. “The report highlights the urgent need for coordinated action from policymakers, healthcare providers and communities", our Senior Policy Manager James Cole said. "Living well with #HIV in #Wales" report highlights three key areas that need further action: mental health and wellbeing, ageing well with HIV and end HIV inequalities. WE DID IT! The House of Lords has just approved #EqualHIVFertilityRights! In the coming weeks, LGBT+ people living with HIV will be able to donate their eggs and sperm and become parents if they wish, ending decades of discrimination—people like Alan Albert O'Neill ACIPD, who worked alongside National AIDS Trust to achieve this historic victory. Our CEO Robbie Currie said “Today marks a significant victory for the rights of people living with HIV, particularly LGBT+ couples wanting to donate sperm or eggs. They will now have the same rights as anyone else – the right to receive equal treatment and the right to start a family.” National AIDS Trust has campaigned for many years to change this discriminatory law. We share this victory with our colleagues at the British HIV Association (BHIVA), The British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) , former colleagues like Deborah Gold, Kat Smithson, Hannah Ward and Danny Beales, parliamentarians from the APPG on HIV, AIDS and Sexual Health, and most importantly every person living with HIV who shared their stories to raise awareness. https://lnkd.in/gUJJHbPY

The #EmploymentRightsBill will get its second reading today in Parliament. Whilst it strengthens workers' rights, the Bill must extend the right of people living with #HIV to bring cases to the Employment Tribunal from 3 to 6 months after they experience discrimination. Allowing people who experience discrimination in the workplace, including those living with HIV, to bring claims to a Tribunal up to six months after a discriminatory incident occurs will expedite the promise the Labour Party made prior to the General Election. https://lnkd.in/d44zhmWb
