Sefydlwyd Comisiwn Seilwaith Cenedlaethol Cymru yn 2018 fel corff anstatudol i gynghori a gwneud argymhellion i Weinidogion Cymru ar seilwaith economaidd ac amgylcheddol dros y pum mlynedd i wyth deg mlynedd nesaf. Ein prif amcan yw rhoi’r cyfle i bawb yng Nghymru gael gwella eu llesiant cymdeithasol, economaidd, amgylcheddol a diwylliannol trwy argymell seilwaith i greu economi deinamig a chydnerth The National Infrastructure Commission for Wales was established in 2018 as a non-statutory body to advise and make recommendations to Welsh Ministers on economic and environmental infrastructure over the next five to eighty years. Our primary objective is to give everyone in Wales the opportunity to improve their social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being by recommending infrastructure to build a dynamic and resilient economy.

Last week the #NICW Commissioners became Guinness World Record holders 💪 We took part in the Taff Tidy campaign — mobilising community action to safeguard our rivers and waterways 💧 As part of an incredible team of volunteers — the most people EVER to carry out a river project (1,367) — we aimed to raise awareness of the fragility of our water system and spark action across #Wales. I’r gâd i Gymru gynaliadwy i’w diogelu at y dyfodol! 🤝 This week marks 10 years since the world-leading Wellbeing of Future Generations Act became law – a moment that put Wales on the map for progressive policymaking🏴 At NICW, this pioneering piece of legislation shapes how we guide and advise Welsh Government – ensuring Welsh infrastructure is built to serve both today’s communities and generations to come. Today is Global Day of Recycling ♻️ Did you know that recycling has the potential to reduce carbon emissions by the equivalent of 10.4-11.2Gt of C02e emissions between 2020 and 2050? With Wales being named the second in the world for recycling — we have a real chance to become a zero waste nation by 2050, supporting our net zero goals 💪 We are currently establishing a research contract to look at a short form National Infrastructure Assessment, the circular economy will be one of the areas examined by this.

Gan fod Cymru wedi cyrraedd yr ail safle yn y byd am ailgylchu — mae gennym ni gyfle gwirioneddol i fod yn genedl dim gwastraff erbyn 2050, a chefnogi ein targedau net sero 💪 Rydym ni wrthi’n sefydlu contract ymchwil er mwyn cynnal Asesiad o’r Seilwaith Cenedlaethol. Byddwn ni’n edrych yn fanylach ar yr economi gylchol fel rhan o’r asesiad.

Meet #NICW Commissioner Helen Armstrong — an expert in Welsh infrastructure with a particular focus on equality and social justice in Wales’ housing sector 🏘 Helen is passionate about leading change and building a liveable world for future generations — a passion she’s using to drive our 2025 report ‘Climate Communications’ 🌍 This report will deliver recommendations to Welsh Government on what’s required to manage the existing risk of coastal erosion, climate change and sea level rise — specifically within Wales’ coastal communities.
