CALL FOR EVIDENCE: Contribute to a new inquiry on policy and regulation for accessible transport in the UK. #ncat_uk #accessibletransport

#icymi Last month ncat was invited to give evidence to the London Assembly Transport Committee. Also invited to speak were Emma Vogelmann, Head of Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns from Transport for All, David Crepaz-Keay, Head of Research and Applied Learning at the Mental Health Foundation, Eric Matthies, the Policy Officer for Inclusive Journeys and the Royal National Institute for the Blind, and Nick Tyler CBE FREng, Director at the UCL Centre for Transport Studies. The London Assembly’s focus for the day was the state of transport accessibility within London. Among the questions discussed were: what the main barriers to accessibility are, and how these barriers affect how people travel. While the questions began with a focus on London, discussion broadened out to consider the barriers disabled people face when travelling around the rest of the country. CALL FOR EVIDENCE: Individuals and organisations are invited to share their views and experiences of transport systems to improve transport accessibility for disabled people in the UK.     Policy Connect, the Accessible Transport Policy Commission, and the National Centre for Accessible Transport (ncat) have launched a new inquiry to develop a policy and regulation roadmap for #AccessibleTransport in the UK.     The inquiry will gather evidence about a range of policy areas and transport services, and examine the commitments made in each of these areas by the UK Government and devolved administrations in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. We set up the National Centre for Accessible Transport (ncat) to provide robust evidence to support our goal— to make transport accessible for all. Disabled people’s views and experiences are at the heart of our work. We invite anyone with lived experience of disability, carers, and those working within transport to join our Community of Accessible Transport (CAT) panel. https://lnkd.in/e4Q5ua7T So far CAT panel members have contributed to our research by: ·      shaping the design and structure of surveys for research projects ·      acting as experts by experience to give feedback on the research we’re doing ·      sharing their experiences of the barriers they have encountered when using transport ·      attending the first Accessible Transport Summit and giving views on our key research themes. With your help ncat seeks to produce high quality, human-centred evidence, insights, and tried and tested solutions that will inform policy and strategy, and influence investment decisions by government, transport operators, and providers of mobility services.
