How to navigate the learning journey with confidence.
It's the start of the week and a new month beckons! Opportunities abound for new learnings, so it's important to be kind to self when starting, whether it’s a new skill or activity in life or at work. Here are 4 Steps to learning something new to help you navigate your journey with confidence. 1 You don't know what you don't know When you first start, you are unaware of what you don't know. This is fine as you haven’t got the neurological capacity to do it at a level of excellence. You are feeling enthusiastic, energised and motivated by what lies ahead, ready to begin your learning journey. Enjoy! 2 You know what you don't know. At this stage your awareness of what you do not know starts to occur, it can be like the revealing of the big picture. This can be a little uncomfortable, so knowing that this is going to happen is a good sign of progress. Keep yourself grounded and recall the reasons for starting your learning journey. 3 You know what you know. You know what you are doing! You have passed and got the certificate. It's not the finished product though, it is enough to get you to where you want to be for now. It’s a good time to reflect and recognise your progress to date taking your learnings. 4 Things just happen naturally. This is where we desire to be. Just remember when you passed your driving test and how you drive now! This stage is based upon time and energy you invest into your practice and application of your learning whilst building your experience. So how can you use the 4 Steps for what you want to learn? Understanding this process ensures that we can give the right support at the right time in the right way to help students reach success.
