On the 16th August, 70 members of The NextGen Fruit Group visited AC Goatham & Son and W&D Riccini (David Riccini) in Kent. AC Goatham is the largest top fruit enterprise in the UK, specialising in British apples and pears. The company manages 3,000ac of orchards and produces 55,000 tonnes of fruit annually, while also collaborating with partner growers. Known for their consistency in supply, AC Goatham recently secured a significant £750 million deal with Aldi, underscoring its commitment to growth and excellence. Our visit included a tour of Elmstone Farm, a modern, highly efficient top fruit operation that cultivates 40 hectares of Conference Pears on advanced Wirework structures to enhance yield and quality. The farm also grows 10 hectares of high-yielding Braeburn apples. In the afternoon, we proceeded to W&D Riccini, a family-owned farm located near Canterbury. This 90ha operation grows a variety of fruits, including apples, pears, and cherries. The farm cultivates over 70ha of apples, featuring varieties such as Gala, Braeburn, Cameo, and Magic Star, achieving impressive yields of up to 80 tonnes. Additionally, they manage 9.25ha of Conference pears and 7.4ha of cherries in polytunnels. Notably, the Magic Star apple is recognised for its exceptional taste and long storage life, enabling a year-round supply of British fruit. We extend our sincere gratitude for hosting us and providing the opportunity to learn from your esteemed businesses. Your contributions to the industry are remarkable, and we greatly appreciate your willingness to share your insights with us. #nextgenfruitgroup #nextgenfruitfarms #britishfruitfarming #britishfruit #supportbritish #nextgenleaders #drivingtheindustryforward

On August 28th, we had the first farm walk for the 24-26 committee, visiting LOWER HOPE FRUIT LIMITED and Pixley Berries (Juice) Ltd in Hereford 🍒 🥤. Lower Hope Estate is renowned for its exceptional production of cherries and raspberries, supported by a modern on-site stone fruit grading and packing facility, which allows them to manage their produce efficiently and maintain high standards. Pixley Berries plays a key role in the fruit and vegetable processing industry, supplying many prominent food and drink manufacturers. In addition to producing high-quality juices, they farm a variety of blackcurrants specifically selected for their exceptional flavour. It was an informative day filled with valuable insights from industry experts. We’re grateful to them for sharing their knowledge and providing an honest look at their operations. #backbritishfruit #britishfruitfarming #supportbritish #nextgenfruitgroup #drivingthebritishfruitindustryforward #leadingfromthefront #learning #nextgenlearning #thefuturelooksbright

Family Tree Farms another incredibly generous host for our International Conference in California. Family Tree Farms representing incomparable scale of growing Stone Fruit and Blueberry growing in the central, just south of Fresno. Demonstrating an unapologetically family business, with terrific scale and hard line focus on variety development and what is next for their growing operation. Founder David Jackson and family gave so much of their time to engage with our members, even hosting us for lunch at the family home, truly inspirational hosts. Whilst on ranch, we were also hosted to a demo from Burro, showing automated platform tech that is looking to revolutionise the berry picking industry. #NextGenFruitGroup #InternationalConference #FamilyTreeFarms #Fresno #California #Blueberries #StoneFruit #Automation
