The statutory organisation responsible for setting the strategic plan for the NHS in Hampshire and Isle of Wight.

About us

NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (ICB) is the statutory organisation responsible for setting the strategic plan for the NHS to deliver its part of the health and care strategy. It allocates NHS resources and works through our four places (Hampshire, Southampton, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth) and our transformation programmes to make sure the right health services are being delivered to people across the area. NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight is made up of the former Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight CCG. We work closely with our partners within the wider Integrated Care System to support our communities to stay as healthy as possible.

Great news! We have opened the doors to our new Community Diagnostic Centre, for faster scans, tests and checks. The new facility, called the Outpatients and Diagnostic Centre, will deliver better patient experience and improve outcomes for islanders with serious long-term health conditions such as cancer, stroke and cardiovascular disease. We were delighted to welcome our first patients, Jane from Godshill and 10-year-old Reed from St Lawrence who were here to visit the fracture clinic this morning. Find out more about this fantastic new centre in our news story: https://lnkd.in/eAnmXatv

  • Dr Raj Laly, Director of Laly's Pharmacies helped us to briefly explain to the public why pharmacists are great first points of call for minor illnesses, being that they are qualified health professionals that can give expert advice for a range of conditions. This includes giving prescription medicine for some conditions, without you needing to see a GP or make an appointment. This is called Pharmacy First. This includes these seven common conditions: 👉 impetigo (aged 1 year and over) 👉 infected insect bites (aged 1 year and over) 👉 earache (aged 1 to 17 years) 👉 sore throat (aged 5 years and over) 👉 sinusitis (aged 12 years and over) 👉 urinary tract infections (UTIs) (women aged 16 to 64 years) 👉 shingles (aged 18 years and over)

  • The involvement of our communities and local people is critical in influencing, developing, and improving health and wellbeing services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Here are just some of the highlights of this summer’s community involvement activities in Hampshire and Isle of Wight… - Trans people are more likely to experience inequity and inaccessibility in cancer services, so Wessex Cancer Care Alliance and Help & Care held a series of interactive workshops, led by community researchers, to hear directly from the Trans+ community about their experiences of cancer services. - The Rebooting Democracy project is being delivered in partnership with the University of Southampton and supports young people to research the issues that are important to them and then develop recommendations for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Partnership – the joint committee of local authorities and NHS organisations in Hampshire and Isle of Wight. - We worked with Action Hampshire and the Raising Voices in Research partnership to co-design our winter communications plan so it is based on a deeper understanding of patient experience. - We launched a survey on periods and menopause to understand how they impact people’s lives and work. This will help to inform the development of future services and information. - We worked with partners to test the draft national Integrated Care System Health Inequalities Engagement Framework. • Last week a special event took place to recognise our maternity and neonatal staff across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. This was a great opportunity to share the learning that has taken place over the last 12 months, as well as a chance for sharing good practice and innovations. Awards were presented and presentations delivered that showcased staff across the area, including an Outstanding Achievement Award, which went to Gill Allen of Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, and a Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to Kim Morley from Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Huge congratulations to all staff involved, especially the nominees and award-winners.

  • Last week the Raising Voices in Research partnership hosted a special ‘Shaping the Conversation’ Showcase event to look back on all the amazing work the project has led to. Raising Voices in Research was set up to encourage and enable different voices to contribute to health research and set the priorities for it. When decisions about research, like what to focus on and how, are kept solely in the hands of research organisations, communities are often less likely to get involved and can be disempowered. Research can have such a big impact on health and social care services, so we believe that hearing from communities about the research they think is important is key to greater involvement. That’s why Raising Voices in Research funded 12 voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations to work with communities to identify their research priorities and designed a process for communities to have the research priorities that matter to them heard. • Ahead of October half-term we're reminding parents of 2 and 3 year olds to get their little ones booked in for a flu vaccination nasal spray and what to do if their child becomes poorly. Since September, more than 11,000 2 to 3 year olds across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight have been vaccinated against flu, which means two-thirds are yet to be vaccinated. As part of the Autumn vaccination programme NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight has created the campaign ‘Protect Your Little Monsters’, which is running for two weeks to coincide with half term and Halloween. Over the next two weeks look out for our Little Monsters themed artwork which will be on display across Hampshire. #vaccines #vaccinecampaign

  • More and more staff in Hampshire and Isle of Wight are completing the Oliver McGowan training, to improve the care and treatment that people with learning disabilities or autism receive. We want to track the impact that the training is having in our area, so we’d really appreciate it if you could spare three minutes to complete a short survey about your experience. You do not have to work directly with people with a learning difficulty or autism to complete the survey, or have done the training yourself. https://lnkd.in/gvuP9kDQ
