About us

Nickolls and Perks is the UK's oldest provincial wine and spirits merchant; established in 1797, the company has been trading independently ever since. Today Nickolls and Perks remains a close knit organisation, operating from the heart of the West Midlands with a small dedicated team under third generation family ownership. We specialise in Cru Classé Bordeaux, Champagne, Whisky and Vintage Port, however we have a rapidly growing concern in fine Burgundy and top cru Rhône wines. We regularly hold tasting events in our own 16th century sandstone cellars. We are also the organisers behind the Midlands Whisky Festival. Our expertise and our commitment to personal service and quality merchandise ensured that we have been shortlisted in the 2013 IWC Merchants Awards under two categories: Regional Merchant of the Year (Midlands-north) Bordeaux Specialist Merchant of the Year Please visit our website or contact us for more information.

  • Meet the Team! Isobel Salter needs no introduction, as you’ve seen her all over our Instagram! When she’s not sipping wine for reels, she’s keeping things running behind the scenes with sales and marketing for both retail and fine wine. What’s your Favourite Wine? Gotta be an Aussie Riesling! It’s my go-to whenever I see it on a menu. Also, I have to shout out the Christian Gosset Croix Courcelles Grand Cru—absolutely delicious. What’s your Desert Island Drink? A Mezcal Margarita, no question. Sipping a few of those on a beach? Sounds pretty perfect to me! What’s your local Favourite Restaurant? The Wildmoor Oak! I’ve been a number of times since they opened, and I love how the seasonal menu keeps things fresh. Always looking forward to what’s next. What’s your Favourite Artist? Obviously, Taylor Swift! But I also love Sabrina Carpenter—I saw her live in Birmingham recently, and she was amazing! What’s something you think is totally overrated? Love Island. I just don’t get the obsession! and finally, What’s your guilty pleasure? Crocs! I think I’m up to three pairs now… but honestly, I’m not even that guilty about it! #NickollsPerks #MeetTheTeam

  • WE DID IT!! Nickolls & Perks won the Independent Spirits Retailer of the Year 2025 award!    Up amongst incredibly tough competition at this year’s Drinks Retailing Awards, we’re still pinching ourselves at taking home the win. A thoroughly enjoyable event with some of the best people in the business. This is our first time winning this award; a reflection of the continual improvement to our spirits offering and commitment to excellent customer service. Massive congratulations to all our fellow winners, a huge thanks to @drinksretailingawards and sponsors Beluga Vodka, Champagne Laurent Perrier for such a fun evening of celebrations. Now, where’s that bottle of Champagne... #NickollsPerks #DrinksRetailingAwards

  • Burns Night 2025 is now consigned to history. Over 60 guests joined us for an evening of whisky, haggis and bagpipes for an ode to the North, celebrating the inimitable beauty of the Scottish landscape and the immortal legacy of Robert Burns. We’re not so much poets at Nickolls & Perks but we’re deeply passionate about whisky, paying homage to The Bard with a fine selection of Scottish drams. Following our recent single cask release from Ardnamurchan, we welcomed Sales Executive Carl Crafts from the distillery to give his first-hand insights into their award-winning malts. Guided by Carl, guests enjoyed some of the rarest releases from this stalwart producer, leading up to our latest Nickolls & Perks independent bottling; a unique collaboration born from our longstanding relationship with Ardnamurchan and Adelphi. #NickollsPerk #BurnsNight #BurnsSupper

  • Meet the team! Jordan Jakeways, our Finance Office Manager kicked off his journey with us as an apprentice and has since become a key player at N&P. These days, he’s the go-to for all things finance, leading the team and keeping the business running smoothly behind the scenes! What’s your favourite Wine or Dram? I’m not much of a drinker, which doesn’t bode well for working at N&P. However, I recently tried the Dopff Au Moulin Riesling, and I have to admit, I really enjoyed it. When it comes to spirits, though, the N&P Ben Nevis 26 Year Old is my top choice. I had the chance to try it at last year’s whisky festival, and I found it absolutely sublime. What’s your favourite local restaurant? One place that comes to mind, which has become a staple for birthdays in my family, is Indiluxe in Amblecote, Stourbridge—a lovely Indian restaurant that I highly recommend. What’s your desert island drink? I’d have to say Sex on the Beach is my go-to on an all-inclusive holiday. I could drink them all day and night—and I have haha! What’s your favourite band/artist? It’s hard to pick a favourite since I have such a vast music taste, but if I had to choose something more old school, I’d say U2. You can definitely catch me at karaoke belting out ‘With or Without You’! What’s something you think is totally overrated? Coffee in general? I just don’t see the hype. The smell is atrocious, and the taste—no, thank you! I can’t ever see myself becoming a coffee drinker. and finally, What’s your guilty pleasure? I like to say I’m not into musicals, but Mamma Mia!—that’s a different story. If I’m ever requesting a song from the DJ, it’s definitely ABBA! #NickollsPerks

  • We are delighted to announce Nickolls & Perks are a finalist for Drinks Retailing Awards Independent Spirits Retailer of the Year 2025. Our team have been pushing this category harder than ever in recent years by ensuring our selection is one of the very best, growing and supporting the team through spirits education, a whole host of exclusive releases, the recent launch of our own-label brand, alongside an ever-growing events calendar - welcoming 1,000 attendees and over 100 brands to the 20th Midlands Whisky Festival last weekend. Next stop - the black-tie awards dinner at The Dorchester Hotel, London in February - wish our team the best of luck! #DrinksRetailing #DrinksRetailingAwards #NickollsPerks

  • Meet the team! Stepping on the other side of the camera is Jack, our Marketing & Social Media Manager, the man who shoots all the content you see on our social channels and in your e-mail inboxes. What’s your favourite Dram? The Glendronach 29-Year-Old Grandeur is my all-time favourite dram tasted as a dream dram last year at Midlands Whisky Festival. However, if we are talking about a dram I always go back to that would have to be Weller 12. What’s your favourite local restaurant? Tropea, I went there recently for my wedding anniversary and could not fault a thing. What’s your desert island drink? Easy question, Guinness. If it could be to the standard of The Gravediggers in Dublin that would be perfect. What’s your favourite Band/Artist? Currently, it would have to be Midland the first 3 singles on their upcoming album have been on repeat all year. Of all time Arctic Monkeys. What’s something you think is totally overrated? Starbucks, the coffee is awful and their other drinks are 90% sugar. and finally, What’s your guilty pleasure? The Kardashians, I have to 'Keep up' with what's going on with those girls haha. #NickollsPerks #MeetTheTeam
