Derby was famously ranked the worst city in Britain earlier this year - but we were on hand last week as BBC Radio Derby helped to debunk that myth. Presenter Ian Skye took to the streets to interview a range of local businesses about why there's actually plenty to celebrate in Derby. Amongst the interviewees were our clients Cathedral Quarter Derby BID and St Peters Quarter Derby BID. It's amazing what you can learn from a Marketing Derby Bondholder event. Yesterday, Simon went to historic Derby property St Helen's House to celebrate its refurbishment by City Properties Derby and reopening as a workspace. New tenant GCA (UK) Ltd welcomed us to the building and introduced local legend Richard Felix - aka 'Mr Derby' - who regaled a rapt audience with tales of St Helen's House role in the foundations of Derby as an industrial powerhouse. Designed by Joseph Pickford, once once by William Strutt, it's even said to be haunted! The refurb looks amazing and it's great to see this iconic building looking so fresh. And of course it was great to talk to fellow Bondholders Owen Conti Michael Alldread Nick Johnston-Davis Jeff Handley. But for Simon, who was born in Derby but grew up in Seattle, it was worth the price of admission alone to learn that Mt St Helens, the volcano in Washington State, was named after St Helens House in Derby!
