About us
Statement: "Views expressed by any individual working for and on behalf of the NTIA do not in any way represent the opinions and views of the NTIA, our members and associates. The NTIA continues to work towards a sustainable night time economy, by supporting businesses within the industry and striving to ensure that the sector has a platform for cultural and economic success in the future." - Mike Kill, CEO NTIA British nightlife is under threat. Increasingly strict licensing laws, rising property prices, new housing too close to existing venues, and a lack of understanding about the benefits of night culture have all played their part in eroding our nightlife. The NTIA has been set up by industry venue owners and stakeholders in order to protect UK nightculture, stop the unfair closures of venues across the country and promote the awesome economic, social & cultural benefits of having a thriving night time eco system. We are a membership organisation representing over 100 nightclubs, live music venues from around the country and we are the voice of the night time community. We lobby the government, authorities and other key departments to change policy and regulations. We fund research to bring awareness to key issues that impact the industry as a whole, and finally we run campaigns to support either key venues in trouble, or to put pressure on authorities to address certain key issues.

The NTIA is pushing for a cultural shift in safeguarding. We believe real change comes from education, accountability, and long-term transformation, not performative campaigns. Safeguarding should be ingrained in the culture of our venues, not just a licensing requirement. 🔗 Read more here: https://buff.ly/PGzq8Bz #NightTimeEconomy #CulturalChange #Safeguarding #NTIA

👋 Meet Edie. Edie works behind a bar, surrounded by music, conversation, and constant noise. But what you might not see is the impact—Edie suffers from hearing loss. Years of exposure to loud environments without protection have taken a toll. Now, everything is loud enough, but just not clear. It affects her well-being, her quality of life, and her future. Hearing loss is preventable. Let’s make workplaces safer and protect our hearing for life. 🔊 Sign the Listen for Life Charter today: https://buff.ly/ZypoPys #ListenForLife #HearingHealth #ProtectYourHearing

Looking forward to collaborating with Music Venue Alliance in Brighton on a panel at The Great Escape, where we’re hosting a full day on Friday 16th May. Excited to catch up with Carl Hill on some new projects before heading into a meeting with Darlington to shape the future of their Night Time Economy strategy. Early afternoon, we connect with the CMS committee clerk to discuss an incredible opportunity to engage politicians on electronic music and club culture. Then, a key meeting with Richard Parker, West Midlands Mayor, to discuss ongoing night time economy strategy—new data incoming! Later, we head to the Hippodrome Casino to meet Ian Haworth about an exciting new pilot we’re working on. Rounding off the day with our Northern Ireland Commission alongside Hospitality Ulster and Colin Neill, followed by discussions with the International Nightlife Association team. Government Neglects the Night-Time Economy — Again! The Chancellor’s latest Statement is a reckless failure that disregards the urgent crisis facing the night-time economy. Despite relentless warnings, the Government refuses to act, pushing venues, jobs, and businesses to the brink. - Tax hikes hit in April - Widespread closures loom - No financial relief—again This is not just negligence—it’s a betrayal. The NTIA demands immediate intervention before it’s too late. 🔗 Read more here: https://buff.ly/4UMlvis #SaveNightlife #NTIA #EconomicCrisis #ChancellorsStatement #ActNow

Starting the day with preparations for the Budget Announcement. There’s always a bit of unease on days like this as the Treasury keeps everything so close to their chest. Mid-morning, I’m meeting with London Assembly Members to discuss introducing a motion for the Listen for Life initiative—such an important step for mental well-being. After that, we’ll be talking about the Brooklyn Brewery’s inclusivity project, focusing on supporting LGBTQ+ spaces and creating safer, more welcoming environments for all. Then, the wait begins for the Chancellor’s Spring Statement at the House of Commons, followed by an influx of press anticipating a sector response. In the afternoon, I’ve got a meeting with NTIA Scotland Commission to talk through the ongoing implications of the budget. A quick catch-up with Bally Singh is next, before reviewing an exciting new initiative with Bye Bye Plastic and Camille Guitteau. A busy day, but always pushing for progress. #SpringStatement #BudgetDay #Inclusivity #Sustainability #ListenForLife #LGBTQ+Support #NTIA #MentalHealthMatters #ByeByePlastic
