Together, Norfolk shines brighter

About us

Norfolk Community Foundation is a charity dedicated to building stronger communities and improving the lives of people in Norfolk. We bring people together who want to make a difference where they live – whether they step up to take action themselves, or support those who do with an investment of funding or time. Supporting over 2,000 small charitable groups working on the ground, our work touches 1 in 4 people in Norfolk – from those dependent on local practical and social support, to whole communities benefiting from improved buildings and green spaces. By bringing people together, we can do more. What can you do?

  • 💡What was your big takeaway from our ‘Keeping Norfolk’s Legacy’ event earlier today? Was it that 85% of charitable income in England and Wales goes to just 4% of charities? Keeping local funds flowing in Norfolk is essential to support the vital work of our grassroots charities. We want you to feel confident introducing ‘local philanthropy’ into your client conversations and are always here to support you.   Together we can build a brighter Norfolk – why not visit our website and explore our six missions, ranging from building healthier communities through food, to addressing skills shortages in our county? Or take a look at our new Animals That Care Fund, dedicated to ensuring that animals who provide us with care and companionship receive the help they need as well.   We had a great turn out and it was wonderful to have so many of you join in the discussion. We want to keep the conversation flowing – so we will be in touch over the coming days. 📧   💗A huge thank you to Rogers & Norton Solicitors Limited and SG Wealth Management Ltd for sponsoring this event, and to our panel members Cathy Hipper, Frances Kemp APFS and Henry Pettitt for taking such an active part in an enjoyable and engaging conversation.   Missed out today? Get in touch with Sara Herschel-Shorland or Judy Dow who’d be happy to chat about how we can take conversations with your clients to the next level 📈

  • 🔁Good Goes Around🔁 🎥Thanks to Kirsteen Thorne, over a dozen charities benefitted from media training last week. 🔴Kirsteen prepared this training for Norfolk Community Foundation pro bono as part of her commitment to Norfolk ProHelp. Norfolk ProHelp helps businesses give in ways that make sense to them and makes a real difference to charities, too. Charities are increasingly called upon by the media to comment on both local and national goings on, but few have any training on how to prepare and deal with these requests. Listening to their concerns, we reached out to Kirsteen for help with this task. Kirsteen's calm approach and informed responses made this session really worthwhile for the participants. 💻Find out more about the session and Kirsteen's top tips here ➡️ https://bit.ly/4eK1kAU

  • How do your #VCSE employees feel about LinkedIn? Not everyone knows what to write or how to reach out. We welcomed Lauren Willgress from Create Joy to our team meeting this morning to help us understand how we can use our LinkedIn better as individuals and as an organisation. We interrogated our interests and explored how we can engage with content to better share our personal thoughts, ideas and stories while highlighting our work 📝

  • 🌱During the first lockdown in 2020, the community of East Harling turned crisis into opportunity. With the support of Harling Parish Council, the East Harling Community Garden was born. 🌳We were able to support their work with a Greening our Communities grant, helping the community build on this inclusive, ecologically-focused project that would grow to benefit not only East Harling’s residents but its wildlife as well. 🐝Thought the hoped-for hedgehogs have yet to make an appearance, the bug houses buzz with life, and the birdhouses are constantly in use. Every inch of the garden has been thoughtfully planned to create an ecosystem that serves as a haven for wildlife. The community garden has become a space for neighbours to connect, visitors to appreciate, and nature to flourish.
