Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) is the regulatory body for the Northern Ireland social care workforce. We register social care workers, social workers and social work students. We are strengthening safeguards for service users by setting standards for registrant’s conduct and practice and taking action when they do not meet the standards expected of them. We are also responsible for training and learning standards in the workforce. We approve and Quality Assure education and training for social workers at Degree and Post Qualifying levels. We also work as part of the UK Sector Skills Council to review and update workforce training needs needed to develop a competent and confident social care workforce.
