Ready, set, go! TeamNP take home gold in this year's Newcastle NE1 Dragon Boat Race 🏆🐲 On Friday 27th September a team of 17 officers from our Newcastle Neighbourhood Policing Team took part in the annual charity boat race on the Tyne, and raising over £1,300 for the Newcastle Hospitals Charity. Swapping the beat for dragon boat seats, and despite a shaky start in the first of the 3 rounds, the team managed to win the event beating 17 other teams in a nail biting row to the finish 🚣♀️ We're pleased to have been able to participate in this well-loved event alongside other local businesses and city partners, and to hear the support from the Quayside side-lines 📣 Will we be able to maintain our title next year? 🤔

Last week, we welcomed His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh to officially open our new emergency services tri-station in Hebburn, South Tyneside. The UK’s first carbon-neutral tri-station is home to ourselves, as well as our blue-light colleagues at Tyne & Wear Fire & Rescue and North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust 🤝 By working side by side in this innovative, state-of-the-art facility, we can foster greater cooperation, share resources and improve response times, ultimately providing a better service to our communities. The Duke of Edinburgh honoured the occasion by unveiling a commemorative plaque, marking the completion of this cutting-edge project.

TeamNP Men's Support Network take on the Northumberland Coast Mighty Hike for Macmillian Cancer Support 💚 Last week, 11 officers, staff and volunteers set off from Alnwick Castle to walk 26 miles across the stunning coastal route to Bamburgh Castle 🏰 From different ranks, roles and responsibilities across our force those taking part raised over £3,000 for the charity with the first pair of boots for the team crossing the finish line in 8.5 hours, and the last in just over 10 🥾 Our Men's Support Network aims to bring people together, foster a sense of community and mutual support which is crucial for mental health and wellbeing. Whilst some of the team may not have known each other before the marathon-length hike, all have left with new, genuine connections and an opportunity to share stories and experiences. A huge well done to those from TeamNP who took on the challenge, including Assistant Chief Constable Simpson! We hope that well-deserved pint at the end was crisp and cold 🍻
