Earlier this week, we hosted our Productique #3 event in Copenhagen. This time we discussed the topic of "using PLG to acquire long-term customers". We started the session with a short presentation from Leah Tharin, which was insightful and fun (she is just so funny 😂😂) followed by a short panel with Laura Erdem from Deamdata. We had some good people in the room with companies like Planday Miro raffle.ai Typeform Templafy and others. The event was hosted at Dreamdata (thank you sooo much Lars Grønnegaard Hansen). Laura Erdem is leading sales at Dreamdata and during the panel she shared the way the company has transitioned from a pure sales-led approach to a position in which customers are able to try and experience the product before they buy. This product approach is helping them convert customers faster - as they can show them the value of the product before they buy. These customers who convert after experiencing the product are indeed the "long-term, high-value" customers. Dreamdata is a superb example of a company that moved from a sales-led to a product-led acquisition approach. I recommend watching the recording (link in the comments) to learn more. Some of the other main insights of the event include: 👉 The right ICP is the one that works for everyone in the company: the sales, product and marketing team, among others. Define your ICP based on what they do, who do they partner with, who do they sell to, how big their XYZ team is,... 👉 In PLG, companies use their product to drive intent and only when the intent is shown, they ask for something like an email address. Then they use product again to increase the intent, and they ask for something else eg any information they need to personalise the product. 👉 Companies don't die from having an ICP that is too narrow. Companies waste many resources for having ICPS that are too broad. 👉 It is not possible to build a large business using only one product. Companies need to complement PLG with sales in order to reach scale. 👉 When using your product to sell, you need to make sure you are emphasising your differentiators up front. Make sure you show what makes you different. Try to show your differentiators as early as possible - possibly with the freemium model if you are offering that. 👉 If you have never experienced self-served before (so you have never had trials or freemium models), it might be a good idea to start with interactive demos and then move to trials and freemium afterwards. This will allow you to track, optimise, and expand. Thank you to our amazing sponsors Amplitude, Paddle and Amazon Web Services (AWS) for supporting us with the Productique events. Thanks also to everyone who helped with the event Stefania Hau Martina Niggli Charlotte Riddersholm Sandra Friis - Adyen - Vice President Sales Michael Bak Radu Bozga Esther Trapadoux Leigh Anne Cooke Leon Rees Patricia Suhrcke . Yesterday, I had the privilege of being invited by Notion Capital to speak alongside Florian Bressand in front of an incredible group of founders. The topic: "TRANSITION from Founder-Lead to building a GTM team"—a crucial milestone for any post-seed or Series A company. A few takeaways from the discussion: 👉 Transitioning from a founder-driven sales process to a structured team can be one of the most challenging yet important shifts for scaling. 👉 As founders, it’s hard to "let go of the baby," but it’s essential for sustainable growth. 👉 Structuring the right team while maintaining the same level of quality and passion can be tough but is achievable with the right processes and culture. At Fleet, I handled sales myself for the first 18 months—it was a hard grind and even harder to hand off. But today, we have an amazing team of 15+ salespeople across 4 countries, and it’s rewarding to see them take the business to new heights. cc Carlos, Hans-Peter, Javier, Emilien Thanks again to Notion Capital for the invite and the insightful conversations! #FounderJourney #ScaleUp #GTM #Entrepreneurship #SalesLeadership
