Today we're excited to share that we have led the €15m Series A investment into LegalFly. The legal industry is on the brink of a major transformation driven by generative AI, with experts comparing its impact to the adoption of email. LegalFly, founded by former Tinder executives, is at the forefront of this revolution, offering a secure, end-to-end automation platform for legal work. The stage is set for significant value creation in LegalTech over the next decade and we’re proud to be a small part of LegalFly’s story by leading their Series A. Notion's Jos White and Maximilian Eichler share more below about why they chose to invest 👇 We're super excited to be on this journey with LegalFly and look forward to working with the Founders and the entire team Ruben Miessen, Kasper Verbeeck De Wael, Dennis M., Gregory Vekemans. https://lnkd.in/esX4YPgS

🚀 Introducing The Operator’s Dilemma: A Three-Part Series on Navigating Your Career in VC-Backed Startups 🚀 The reality for most operators is that the more successful they are, the faster they are paving their way to redundancy. Often unwittingly. This is the natural order of things in start ups, driven by the discontinuous nature of growth. What and who makes you successful at one stage, can lead to your failure at the next. But here's the rub, if you understand it and embrace it you can play it to your advantage. In part 1: we explore growth as a step function and how to navigate your career through Start, Build, and Scale. As startups evolve through these stages the skills and approaches needed at each phase differ significantly. Each is critical, but each is profoundly different. Understanding where your company is on that journey is crucial for long-term success. We explore why success in one stage lead to redundancy as the company’s needs change. It’s a paradox many operators face: the more successful you are, the sooner you might find yourself out of a job. This article provides a roadmap for navigating these changes by developing situational awareness, self-awareness, and a growth mindset. What’s Next? In the coming weeks, we’ll dive deeper into two additional articles: - Part 2 will explore the philosophy of Ikigai, helping you align your personal strengths with the needs of your role for a more fulfilling career. - Part 3 will focus on mastering career development by exploring different paths: becoming a serial expert, embarking on multiple tours of duty, or aiming to be the exception that goes all the way. 🔗 Read the first article here and watch for the next installments in the coming weeks! https://lnkd.in/ekAJAs9m Thank you to Jennifer Bers, Andy Leaver, Michelle Cheng, Naomi Trickey, JooBee Yeow, PhD who all inspired and encouraged me to share this story.

We love operators who excel in an individual stage: starters, builders or scalers. Each is uniquely valuable and critical to success. Starters are super-generalists, who do whatever the company needs to prove they are solving a problem that is truly worth solving, finding product market fit and establishing there is a massive market potential based on impact and value. Builders take companies from the crazy chaotic start stage and create innate repeatability, across every aspect of the business. From founder-led sales to team-based, from people centric to process centric. These people are invaluable to take companies through "the valley of death" between product market fit and go to market fit. Scalers thrive on complexity and optimisation. They are true leaders, managing multi-level, multi-product, multi-market, multi-channel organisations. Each has there place and like a relay racer hands the baton on to the next runner.

Observing 'fit' beyond product-market fit is crucial for business success. Here are 5 key takeaways from our Monetisation Matters series by Andreas Panayiotou, Operating Director, Strategy & Monetisation at Notion, on why fit extends to the entire business, not just the product: • Fit for purpose: Fit is about the relationship between your business and its environment, not just the product. • Information drives fit: Knowing your environment improves predictions and fit. • Designing for the unknown: Balance exploration with exploiting known areas for better decisions. • Climbing the wrong hill: Avoid false summits; sometimes a step back or a creative leap is needed. • Dealing with earthquakes: Environmental changes require a return to exploration and experimentation.
