How much are you willing to give to learn something new? People often talk about the importance of mentorship, but it's not always cheap or easily accessible. Emma Ross 🩵 recently shared a great idea on our NRG Insights podcast - approach a mentor with an offer to split the deal. The concept is simple. Bring someone in for their expertise, and in exchange, they get a cut of the deal. Here’s why this works: 👉 You expand your offerings 👉 You maintain the quality of your service 👉 You build your reputation 👉 And, you learn in the process Yes, you give up a bit in the short term, but the long-term gains are huge. What do you think about this kind of practical mentorship? #mentor #bridging #finance #brokers #mortgages #lending #learning #mentorship #leadership

It's that time of the week again... 😎 As we settle fully into Q4, we are continuing to see an increase in appetite for senior hires, likely to bolster teams before the New Year. Although there's still some tentativeness around the Oct budget, lenders & hiring teams are moving with confidence, which in turn will only make candidates more confident in their move, and the knock on of that is of course a healthier and more competitive market for everyone! Hiring managers need to appreciate the speed at which their processes are moving, and likewise, candidates need to make informed, strong decisions on their next role. Do not let the year drawing to a close put you off both hiring and moving.. this is the perfect time to be inspired, prepared, and organised. The world is not new come Jan 01! #specialistlending #recruitment #Q4move

Let’s talk interview prep 📖 No matter your age, experience, confidence or gravitas, interview prep is important. Not even the fact finding, remembering numbers, names etc… but the confidence it gives you going in fully prepared! I won’t bore you with the typical know your CV, dress smart, show up 10 minutes early, learn the core values piece… but… High performers and great leaders know how to mould an interview into a conversation, but without feeling at ease, this can feel next to impossible. Asking personalised, competent questions not only go a long way in terms of showing your research, but also your plans if they offer. If you come disorganised or unprepared now, what buy in signal are you giving to the hiring manager? Depending on the role, consider researching: The proposition - who is the target market? how do they compare against competitors? what gaps can you fill with experience? The teams tenure, shared connections and background - is their turnover high? where do previous hires come from in terms of skill set? do you share any previous colleagues? Their hiring frequency - how often to they promote internally? what does this mean for your development? Area, product or business challenges - coming to the table commercially aware and prepared will allow you to present your experience in the market, even if not directly questioned Being aware of your own weaknesses - preparing for questions in areas you wouldn’t consider your strengths will allow you to not be thrown off guard when asked! And most importantly - be conscious of your presentation - and no, I don’t mean visually (of course you should be!) but audiably, are you actively listening, being sure not to interrupt, or even worse come off as over confident! Adding value to an interview dialogue turns it into a conversation… knowing when to ask those key questions will help with that too! Do you have a go to interview question? 🤓 #interview #recruitment #specialistlending

What a lovely review from one of our lovely clients 🤗 Building strong relationships with hiring managers is just as important as finding the right candidates. By getting to know a client’s business, I can find candidates that are the right fit for both the role and the team. This recent review from one of my clients highlights just how important that is. If you're a hiring manager, or a candidate seeking a new role, let's connect and see how I can help.
