Exciting to see our campaign gain momentum in Parliament! This morning, we spoke with MPs in Westminster about shifting decision-making closer to communities. Our Campaign Leaders, Andy Jackson, Claude Hendrickson MBE, and Hannah Sloggett, outlined how communities like theirs across the country are fixing and improving their areas. They facilitated a great discussion on how to unlock the power of local people to create happier, healthier and fairer neighbourhoods. Together, with the MPs, we explored how the English devolution Bill could put real power in the hands of local people and community organisations. In Plymouth’s Stonehouse, community-driven solutions are changing lives. Thanks to a £69,000 investment from Resonance Community Developers (RCD), Nudge Community Builders is transforming Union Street into a thriving hub for local people. This funding supports the redevelopment of the C103 building, which will provide new commercial spaces and 30 homes—building resilience in one of England’s most deprived areas. Since 2017, Nudge has reclaimed 25% of Union Street’s empty buildings, creating opportunities for local businesses and growth. Day 17 of our Advent Calendar is all about supporting our communities 🎄 At KAEFER UK & Ireland, we believe in supporting projects that create real value for local communities. That’s why we were thrilled to lend a hand to the Nudge Community Builders as they breathe new life into Union Street, Plymouth. Once a thriving hub, Union Street had fallen into decline. Nudge’s latest project, Club 103, aims to regenerate this historic building and turn it into a vibrant space for small businesses and community activities. When our client, Babcock International Group asked us to help, we were more than happy to support. Members of our KAEFER Devonport team stepped in to blast and prime the structural beams of Club 103 - preparing the space for its exciting transformation. Richard Cornish, Business Manager, shared: “We’re proud to support the redevelopment of Club 103 and play a part in creating opportunities for the local community.” The Club 103 basement has also opened as The City Farmhouse, an innovative urban farm bringing something unique to Plymouth’s regeneration journey.
