To mark #WorldMentalHealthDay we have published a blog examining the pathologisation of women's mental health. Take a look to consider what this might mean for women, and why it is problematic.

Revisioning nurse distress and suicidality
About us
In this groundbreaking and transformative research project, we are working with nurses, for nurses, to revision the ways in which nurse distress and suicidality are articulated and understood. We will be inviting nurses from all four nations of the United Kingdom, and with diverse backgrounds, to participate in our research across five different studies. We are an interdisciplinary and ethnically diverse group of researchers with a wide range of nursing, social care and academic backgrounds. We are based at the Universities of Surrey, Birmingham City, Hull and Keele, and the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio. We are funded by the Wellcome Trust.

Nurses and midwives: Are you in the midst of a #FitnessToPractice Investigation and all that it entails? Nurse Lifeline are hosting a webinar to support you in 'navigating the storm'. Details below.
We are EXTREMELY excited 🙌 to announce news about our latest webinar! On Thurs 19th September, in collaboration with @nmcwatch we will be hosting our webinar 'Navigating The Storm: Supporting the Nursing and Midwifery Community through Fitness to Practise Investigations' at 6.00pm. . We seek to support nurses, midwives and nursing associates going through fitness to practice investigations. Being investigated can be incredibly stressful, distressing and scary, with many nurses and midwives stating that they feel isolated, anxious, lonely, desperate, lost and 'in limbo'. The aim of this webinar is to provide a safe psychological space that is totally non-judgemental where nurses and midwives can come together to share their experience and top tips on how to survive the process whilst learning how to protect their emotional wellbeing and mental health. . Book NOW https://lnkd.in/eGZC9PSu #wellbeingwednesday

We think this is a great initiative and will be supporting it on September 17th.
On 17th September, Doctors in Distress and NHS Practitioner Health are holding the UK’s first annual National Suicide Memorial Day for Health and Care Workers. Since 2011, 2500 NHS staff died by suicide- that’s four healthcare workers every week. Speaking at the Wounded Healer conference, Dr Helen Garr, medical director of NHS Practitioner Health, said: “One death is too many. Healthcare workers who have lost their lives to suicide deserve to be remembered in a significant and national way.” On this memorial day, we want people to take a moment and reflect on healthcare staff who have died by suicide so that their lives can be honoured and remembered in a special way. Whether it is having a moment of reflection, a minute’s silence or lighting a candle in remembrance, we must ensure their lives are never forgotten. #timetoreflect #nationalsuicidememorialday #NSMD #MentalHealthMatters #supporthealthcarestaff #timetorefelect #suicideawareness

A statement from the NHS Muslim Women’s Network on behalf of our members. We ask health & care organisations to call out the islamophobia, provide support for staff affected to ensure their safety & welcome contact from leaders who would like to do more to be actively antiracist #NHSMuslimWomen
