Did you know we aim for all our support groups to be volunteer led? This means that for each group we need, at the minimum, 2 facilitators and 1 group helper. Ideally we'd have 3 facilitators and 3 group helpers (so we can rotate the rotas) and 2 welcomers per group. Here at Happy Mums your mental health experiences are a super power, not something that needs to be hidden away. To find out more about each of these roles head over to https://lnkd.in/drmvjx6k We are recruiting across north and west cumbria right now - if you can spare an hour and 1/2 a week we know a lot of mums and mums-to-be who would be really grateful.

There are many different aspects to suicidal thoughts and actions, it's easy to venerate them all, it's harder to respect that for some there is an element of comfort in knowing suicide is an option. You may think that option going away would be a good thing. But sometimes that is harder still. Sarah explores this and more in her story... https://lnkd.in/e9gKP4U5 #suicideproventionday #mentalhealth #peersupport

It's #worldsuicidepreventionday and as difficult as it can be to talk about, we are here to listen. Our team of staff and volunteers all have lived experience of maternal mental health and many will have experienced suicidal thinking. Suicidal thinking as a new mum is not uncommon, in fact, suicide is the leading cause of death for mums within the 1st year of giving birth. If you are having thoughts relating to suicide you are welcome to come to one of our support groups, we won't be shocked, we won't judge, we'll be there for you. We have online and face-to-face groups you can find our timetable at: www.happymums.org.uk However, we aren't a crisis service so if you are actively thinking of acting on your suicidal thoughts you can reach out to any of the following: North Cumbria NHS Universal Mental Health Crisis Line 0800 652 2865 South Cumbria NHS Urgent Mental Health Support Line 0800 953 0110 These are open 24 hrs a day/7 days a week and are for all ages. We're Hiring! With huge thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund and Cumbria Community Foundation we are delighted to start the search for not 1, not 2 but 7 new team members. As part of our focus on embracing maternal mental health within the community, we have developed the new role of Community Engagement Co-ordinator. And we want to embed one in 7 different communities across cumbria. It's 16 hours per month, very flexible and child friendly! Full details about the roles and how to apply can be found on our website: https://lnkd.in/ePTCmUja #maternalmentalhealth #recruiting #livedexperience #cumbriamentalhealth #communitymatters

Exciting news!! We have an office! After over year of working from home/cafes and storing things car boots, garages and conservatory’s. We now have a space for everything to live and us to work. We’ve moved into a lovely room Morton Manor Community Centre. As you can see things are a little sparse right now, if anyone has any of the following sitting around taking up space, donations are very much appreciated - - 2x office chairs - mini fridge - kettle - black board paint - yellow paint - a couple guest/visitors chairs - monitors to attach to laptops - a desk (if you zoom in Katie is on a little table!) - coat hooks - extension leads #happymums #officedesign #newspace #socialenterprise #community #communityworking #reducereuserecycle #donationswelcome Cumberland Building Society Cumberland Council Cumbria Community Foundation Social Enterprise Cumbria Lizzie Anderson Cache4 IT Solutions Ltd Lucinda Bray
