In collaboration with some passionate, forward thinking clients, we’re addressing questions of cultural regeneration. With flexibility in the brief, we’re allowed to consider the project as an instigator for socio-economic change. What are the consequences of various use classes in our town centres? These towns are often depleted of a vibrancy in their historic centres after supermarkets and shopping malls offered a certain convenience. Regeneration then, becomes a question of value. What value do we afford to an identifiable civic centre, where life is encouraged to play out? As our networks evolve and the distances between these islands become more easily traversable, the island gains importance; and with it, the use with which it is programmed.

We are thrilled to be shortlisted for the Blunden Prize. This month, we will present our sculpture, 'The Non-Human Hotel', to the panel of judges. Our monolithic stone sculpture, reminiscent of iconic local architecture, also serves as a haven for thousands of indigenous species. We plan to document this mini-ecosystem over the course of a year, observing as various plants, animals, mosses, and lichens gradually inhabit the sculpture. #art #architecture #competition #sculpture #biodiversity

Final months of Burnt House now with finishes starting to go in and external works being cleaned up. Full ASHP system and solar installed with operational carbon being monitored. Insulated to almost passive standards with heat recovery system; even recycling the excess heat from the sauna and steam. All modelled and calculated prior to construction. Getting there with this luxury house refurb in Manchester. We’ve excavated below the house to double the internal area. Fitting a heat pump system this week that will serve the underfloor heating and radiators. We’ve also designed a spa for the client, building a gym, sauna and steam room in the coming weeks.
