About us
Olleco is one of the UK’s most progressive circular economy companies, leading the way for the food and hospitality industries to embrace a more sustainable future. We have the global climate crisis front of mind in everything we do and we are deploying human ingenuity to create innovative technologies and dynamic systems that help our partners radically reduce their carbon footprint with the ultimate goal of achieving zero carbon operations. Employing over 1000 people, at over 19 sites strategically located throughout the UK and Ireland, Olleco services over 50,000 catering establishments. The waste oil Olleco collects is converted into biodiesel and the food waste collected is transformed into biomethane, electricity, heat and organic fertiliser. Olleco operates a network of depots, five used cooking oil processing plants, a biodiesel plant, a bulk liquid storage facility and three anaerobic digestion (AD) plants with support from a wider network of licensed AD facilities. As of April 2019 we were also awarded the Royal Warrant by Her Majesty The Queen for our service of delivering fresh oil to, and collecting used oil from, Royal Estates across the country. We place great importance on performing to the highest possible standards. Sustainability is key to all of Olleco’s operations and we continue to be certified by the ISCC - International Sustainability and Carbon Certification scheme. This ensures that the used cooking oil we collect is used in the most environmentally beneficial way possible, namely the manufacture of biodiesel. ISCC certify Olleco’s biodiesel produced from used oils and fats and confirm that it has carbon emissions 89.9% lower than fossil diesel, which makes it an excellent fuel in the fight against climate change. #Certified #ISCC #Biofuel #Renewables

Did you know that in 1890, the diesel engine, which was able to run on various fuels including vegetable oils, was invented by Rudolf Diesel? 134 years later, on International Biodiesel Day, we celebrate the technology we use everyday to transform used cooking oil into biodiesel that delivers an 89% carbon saving compared to fossil diesel. Watch our video to learn more about this cutting-edge process. #DYK #Biodiesel #InternationalBiodieselDay #RenewableFuel

Happy National Cycle to Work Day! At Olleco, we’re proud to offer a cycle to work scheme. Even cycling to work once or twice a week will be beneficial in reducing your commuting carbon footprint, as well as improve your physical and mental health. ♻ If you were to cycle to work every day for a year, it would save roughly 2.75 tCO₂e which is equivalent to taking a car off the road for over half a year! #DYK #CycleToWorkDay #CommutingCarbonFootprint

We spoke to The Sunday Times to share how we are helping the food industry tackle the climate emergency, by finding uses for the used cooking oil and food waste it produces. The article also discusses the exciting times that lie ahead with the future use of used cooking oil as a feedstock for Sustainable Aviation Fuel, which may one day be made in the UK. At Olleco, we help food businesses become more sustainable and contribute to better energy security. If you’d like to join the 50,000 pubs, restaurants and canteens that Olleco services each month, then fill out our quote builder for a free quote at https://lnkd.in/eT5hVjuf

We were delighted to host some very special guests at our anaerobic digestion plant in Aylesbury where they learnt more about the process and the services that Olleco offers to help the UK foodservice industry operate more sustainably. Reflecting on the visit, our Chief Commercial Officer, Adam Baisley said; “We’re honoured that this esteemed group of people were able to join us. It was a very positive day and I’m glad that they had a chance to see where their food waste goes and for us to learn more about the great efforts of the Coronation Food Project.” We would like to thank The Countess Howe, High Sheriff Ann Limb, Councillor Steve Lambert, Councillor Paul Turner, and Councillor Wilford Augustus for taking their time to visit us and being so passionate about what we do at Olleco.
