7 year old Zara - who spends her spare time collecting pet donations for One Can - was recently invited down to the warehouse for a tour to see how the charity operates! She loves animals and wants to make sure those in need have enough food for their pets. Zara even spends her pocket money on donations! Zara is pictured below with Helen Foster, before her tour of the warehouse.

Food bank serving people in crisis throughout High Wycombe, Marlow and across South Bucks
About us
Since 2011, One Can Trust has operated a foodbank based in High Wycombe, serving the town and the wider area of South Buckinghamshire. We work with local organisations, including Bucks Council and housing associations, to provide weekly food parcels to those who need our help. We have seen a huge increase in requests for our support over the last few months due to the cost of living crisis. In addition to providing food for households who are struggling, we offer advice and support to help families tackle the causes of their financial difficulty.

A new collaboration aimed at helping local residents to get the advice they need in one place at one time will become permanent following a successful pilot led by BNU this summer. 💡 The High Wycombe Community Advice Hub adopts a ‘one stop shop’ model, which enables local residents to receive advice from one or more advice-giving organisations on the last Wednesday of every month on topics including benefits, bills, careers, employment, family, food, housing, and money. The next session is this Wednesday (30 October). 👐 Professor Nick Braisby, Vice-Chancellor, said: “As one of the flagship projects of our new Public and Community Engagement Strategy, our community advice hub epitomises the type of intervention we want to embed in our local community. With the pandemic and cost-of-living crisis causing additional and often unseen hardship to many residents, co-created initiatives like this are imperative as we approach winter. Thank you to all of the stakeholders, colleagues and students who have been involved and will be going forward.”🙏 Buckinghamshire Council, Citizens Advice Bucks, the Family Information Service, One Can Trust, Wycombe Women's Aid, Alternatives to Conflict, The Oasis Partnership 40 Years 1984-2024, Christians Against Poverty, HSBC, Fairhive Homes Limited, and BNU School of Business and Law 🙌 More information can be found here 👉 https://bit.ly/3UpOOik

One Can....volunteer! ...and also donate to a great charity (tinned items, biscuits, sugar, washing up liquid etc.) Awesome to spend the afternoon with the team One Can Trust - thank you for having us. Neil (in the snap) and the team are doing a great job providing emergency food parcels to people in crisis across High Wycombe, Marlow and South Bucks communities. It was also great to spend sometime with the team - Amelia Spencer, Sophie Lawrence and Austin Witney - working together to make food parcels. It was a small contribute to the great things being achieved by all at One Can Trust. Association for Project Management very kindly give us an annual volunteering day, so Sophie Lawrence, Robert Allen, Austin Witney and I spent the afternoon at One Can Trust in High Wycombe today, making food parcels for families in need. They’re a brilliant charity who cover the whole of South Buckinghamshire, providing food parcels to over 380 people each week on average. They’re always looking for more volunteers too, if any of my APM colleagues haven’t booked their volunteering day yet!

Our support for those in need goes well beyond food! Up until the end of August 2024, our Community Support team have made over 700 calls to food bank clients, with over 300 of those being referred to further support. We're here to help - read more about what we do: https://ow.ly/H1pv50TKysR

As part of our School Meals Programme, we've worked in partnership to provide 68 children in our local community with breakfast and lunches - a total of 6558 meals over the first year of the programme! This supports families who are struggling financially but don't meet the government threshold for free school meals. Teachers say they're seeing a positive impact, including examples of increased concentration and social interaction. Following a successful pilot, we're working to expand this project from five to nine schools over the next academic year
