    We ❤️ SDR Leaders

    Do you know who the unsung hero of sales really is... Its SDR leaders Its pretty much a lose/lose role Get meetings, great thats you're job. Don't get meetings you're fired. Do you know how hard it is to: Hire people with ZERO experience People who don't even know if this is the right role Train them from scratch on Salesforce, Outreach, Salesloft, ZoomInfo etc Understanding buyer personas, pain points and value props Cold email / cold calling / video / social selling Keeping them motivated through being rejected 99% of the time The best in your team wanting to be promoted to AE after 6 months Then on top of that: General company problems AE's that don't prospect complaining about having a bad SDR AE's that want their SDR fired because they don't have enough pipeline Bad website messaging Bad product Bigger / better competitors Changing behaviours and channels for prospects The targets for SDR's are monthly, book 10+ meetings, across 5 SDR's thats 50 a month, the amount of activity to hit that is insane, month in month out. Its not landing that 1 big deal for the quarter, being the hero then hitting the golf course again. Its great to see where companies really back their SDR leaders, more companies should do the same.     Go Anik & Joseph 🚀

    You can’t give kids keys to the Ferrari until they know how to ride a bike. We had 2 new SDRs start last Monday, Joseph (booked meeting day 4) Anik (booked meeting day 6) They both have ZERO sales experience, in fact Joseph is an ex Crystal Palace Football Club player, and Anik is in his final year at Imperial College London studying aeronautical engineering. We gave then access to a data provider (Apollo.io) for phone and email addresses only, no sequencing, no automation. We want them to manually crack the code of prospecting before they have any automation. Mornings: 9am morning team call  Get given 4 ICP accounts Use Sales nav to map out the relevant stakeholders (SDR leaders, VP’s of Sales, CROs)  Produce manual email per prospect (research LinkedIn and company website) produce a sub 75 word email (Personalise, pain, pitch, proof, CTA) They Bcc me on EVERY email, I give feedback on EVERY email. (They have a 5%+ response rate, Joseph had 3 responses from 12 emails yesterday)  Feel free to ping them and they can share their emails Afternoons: Engaging on prospects social and connecting (actual engagement not just likes) They are sending 5-8 LinkedIn videos per day (I actually didn’t know this was a thing, but it is and works)  Spend 2 hours cold calling typically with 5-7 actual conversations)  in 8 days they have booked zero meetings via cold calls (Coaching needed on opener + pitch) They will have a meeting each via cold call this week! 5pm team wrap up call Overall 3-4 hours is spent on researching prospects and producing manual messages (in 2 weeks we will give them access to OneShot.ai that will remove that 3-4 hours of work) Too many companies think they can just buy expensive tools to solve their problems without having the fundamentals or infrastructure in place, you CANNOT escape the work! The next question will be what do they do with the extra 4 hours a day? Below is the manual tracking sheet they use for activity, LOW numbers but HIGH quality.

I can book one meeting a day either through: Personalized email LinkedIn or Cold Calling I need less than 2 hours a day to do this. I learnt these skills over 20 years, everyone in our company prospects from our CTO Peda Venki Pola, our marketing team Ezzedine Cherif to our CS Ravi Pandya The entire culture of the company is that of an SDR: Increase revenue  Thrive of rejection Learn & improve  Flat white's & IPA This cultures means we rarely have pipeline issues. By removing pipeline problems means that you can focus on bigger issues which have a far greater impact on the business. Never under-estimate the skill of self-generation, Its a skill that will literally last your entire life.

    1 cold email changed my entire life. Fifteen years ago, I could barely speak English (see the email below, no Grammarly back then either!). I was making $60 a month in India with an internship. My dad's business had just gone bust, and I had to support the family, including three older sisters. The only thing I could do was to prospect for work as an engineer. I sent a lot of emails to over 500 companies. 99% of them did not respond, and the ones that did only scolded me to stop emailing them. But one person responded positively—that's Rohit Shankar. After a full day of interviewing on Saturday, I started on Monday. Offered $180 a month. I was the happiest person on earth seeing that big bump. I worked my ass off, nearly 18 hours a day. Rohit not only gave me a job but also a wonderful career. A few years later, Dimdim got acquired by Salesforce. I ended up moving to San Francisco in 2014. The monthly salary was much higher! With SF prices, though, I felt I earned more in India. ;) Fast forward 10+ years, I co-founded OneShot.ai, and we're hitting a few million dollars in ARR through the same hardcore prospecting. My point is, don’t let a few no's get in the way of your destiny. I was going to stop emailing that day when Rohit responded too. I feel the same struggle while building my startup. I also know the more painful it is, the closer the big win is getting.
