The touching expression, "I have never felt so alone," profoundly captures the sense of isolation experienced by COPD patients and their families as they navigate the daily realities of a progressive, life-altering illness, often losing the ability to enjoy life's most cherished moments. When we partnered with Pulmonx Corporation, we set out to understand why existing support structures were failing this community. The answer was clear: patients were already engaging on social media, but lacked a centralized, safe space to share their experiences. We launched Get COPD Help, a Facebook page designed to unite patients and caregivers in meaningful conversations, offering expert insights, treatment options, and support tailored to their needs. Our strategy was centred on meeting COPD patients and their families where they were already active: online. Through a mix of educational videos and static content, we empowered them with knowledge to manage their conditions and explore relevant treatment options, including medical devices. The platform became a trusted space for conversations that matter, ensuring that the community had access to credible, impactful information. Since launching in 2020, the Get COPD Help page has grown to nearly 60,000 followers, generating thousands of meaningful interactions every month. To ensure the campaign remained effective, we integrated a detailed measurement plan—tracking engagement, patient awareness, and access to care through reactive polls and social listening. This allowed us to continuously refine our content strategy and increase the platform’s impact over time.
