  • 1/3 of parents admit to disposing of toys with ’embedded electronics’ even though they're in working condition. 🤯 While deciding on a theme for our next Sustainable Bytes event, we came across this statistic and were shocked. It's surprising how much waste we create from perfectly usable stuff. With - dare we say the C word- Christmas in less than two months (activate panic mode!), knowing that the working toys we buy will eventually be thrown out is a scary thought. Why do we get rid of toys even though they're in working condition? How can we make our hardware more sustainable and reduce the amount of waste it creates? Introducing Sustainable Bytes: Green Machines 💚 An event for sustainability enthusiasts, tech professionals, and newcomers to come together and talk all things tech and sustainability. Some of the topics that may come up include: ➡️Energy-efficient hardware. How are advancements in tech efficiency helping to reduce our power consumption? ➡️Eco-Friendly Materials in Hardware. How can we move away from using toxic materials and start using eco-friendly materials like recycled aluminium? ➡️Sustainable Design Innovations. How can we design our products with future recycling in mind? To be a part of the conversation, grab a ticket for our Sustainable Bytes event that's taking place on the 27th of November in Leeds. Simply join our waiting list and we'll email you as soon as the tickets are live! https://lnkd.in/epbP7J97 #SustainableBytes #GreenMachines

  • Guess which workspace belongs to which Optimo member! 🖥️ (Hint: Danielle and Vicky are travelling around Europe while working!) Maybe you prefer to keep things tidy with no distractions or maybe you like things to be a bit busier with notes and coffee mugs everywhere (absolutely no judgement- we did clean our desks before we took these pictures 😂). However, we've realised that a change of scenery once in a while sparks fresh ideas. Your clutter-free desk might help with clear, strategic thinking, but a co-working space full of like-minded people could ignite your more innovative ideas. So, if you're fancying a change in scenery on the 27th of November, why not join us at our 'E'Co-Working Day in Leeds? Spend the day ticking tasks off your to-do list whilst meeting new and familiar faces over free tea and coffee- you can't go wrong. • "Why are my team resisting change?" Don't stress—this is very natural during change implementation. Businesses often decide to make some changes internally, but their teams are unsure and stressed. You've decided to implement the change and you're ready in terms of your technology, processes and information, but you still need to remember one thing: people. Your people are the drivers of that change so they need to be at heart of what you're doing. 💙 You could implement the best change in the world but if your team aren't on board, it won't be a success. Many factors could cause your people to resist change: 🔹Fear of the unknown 🔹Fear of job security 🔹Lack of understanding of WHY the change is happening You need to ensure that you're communicating with your team and providing the necessary training and support so they know what's going on. They're on the train, not just watching it pass by. 🚋 Resistance to change isn't the only challenge that occurs during change management. There's also poor communication, insufficient leadership and a lack of clear objectives. If you want to find out more about these challenges, check out our latest blog: https://lnkd.in/eSn-iBta Grab a cuppa and get ready to find out what you need to do to make your change thrive! 🫖 #ChangeManagement #CommonChallenges #Resistance

  • "What's your best piece of advice for managing change?"🤔 🧑🤝🧑People. People. People.🧑🤝🧑 At the end of the day, we could talk about a new system, information or process but no matter what, people are the drivers of that change. They determine whether the change is a success. As a business leader, you need to remember to consider your people and understand what the impact is. By engaging your people, bringing them along the journey and supporting them, you're setting them up for success. Remember: Your people need to have the right level of training to implement the change successfully. You could implement the best new process or system in the world but if your people aren't sure how to use it, or aren't happy with it, it's just not going to be successful. If you're unsure if you're ready the change and supporting your people, check out our short Change Readiness Quiz: https://lnkd.in/euyCCipb It'll only take two minutes, but by the end of it, you'll have a clearer understanding of where you're at in your change journey and what areas you need to work on to ensure your people are properly supported. #ChangeManagement #ManagingChange #People

  • On a scale of 1-10, how productive did you feel this week? Were you happy with everything you got done? Or do you still feel like there's loads to do? Productivity has its peaks and troughs but there is a way to harness all that productiveness. 📈 Imagine you are staring at your to-do list, but it keeps getting longer and longer and no matter how many tasks you tick off, it doesn't get shorter. It's a never-ending list! Now imagine that the list gets separated into sections depending on their importance and urgency. And just like that, boom, your list is already shorter. You could be risking spending all your precious time on tasks that could be given to someone else or left to deal with later. Lucky for you, we've created a workbook designed to help you understand what you’re spending your time on and how to get out of your way when managing your workload. To find out more and download our workbook, check out our latest edition of The Optimist! 👇 https://lnkd.in/eHh9SPUJ #Newsletter #TheOptimist #Productivity

  • New case study alert! 🚨 We recently had the pleasure of working with the lovely team over at Hippo, supporting them with their newly formed ‘green hippo forum’ they were developing internally, as an extension of an existing, growing champion volunteer network. What is a champion volunteer network you ask?🤔 They're essentially an effective model for creating and embedding change in an organisation inclusively and engagingly. Danielle Heward met some of the Hippo team at various local sustainability-related networking events and was interested to hear about the new 'green hippo forum' they were developing. Since then, we have been delighted to support them in their early stages of development. We: 🔷 Facilitated virtual whiteboard sessions for the group. 🔷 Helped with their ideation and scoping for sustainability initiatives they could implement. 🔷 Took part in some fantastic conversations around ways they could work with suppliers and clients and things they could do themselves. We thoroughly enjoyed working with the Hippo team and were so impressed with the culture they're nurturing. We can't wait to continue this partnership and see the progress over the coming months! ✨"While kicking off our new Green Forum at Hippo, it felt reassuring to have an experienced and enthusiastic facilitator like Danielle."- Heather Paxton ✨ Check out more about our work with her here: https://lnkd.in/e_u4b7Rb #CaseStudy #GreenHippoForum
