We envision a future where all children and young people can lead fulfilling lives
About us
The Ormiston Trust is a national charity, funder, and sponsor of schools in England which aims to improve the life-chances of young people. We believe young people should never be underestimated, so we meaningfully collaborate with our Youth Advisory Council, who guide our focus, activity and decisions. The trust was founded in memory of Fiona Ormiston Murray. When Fiona and her husband tragically died on their honeymoon, her family were devastated. Fiona had loved children, so her father George and brother Peter started a charitable trust in her name. The Ormiston Trust has an interest in supporting young people (particularly those that are disadvantaged) in a variety of ways, including: wellbeing, relationships, agency, careers, life skills, physical health, hobbies, environment, inclusion, targeted support, and love of learning. We are also proud supporters of Ormiston Families and sponsors of three Multi Academy Trusts – Ormiston Academies Trust, Gateway Learning Community, and Birmingham Ormiston Academies— which together support over 40,000 young people. Ormiston Trust's #WeWill Youth Social Action (YSA) programme partners and invests in schools and other providers in areas of high deprivation, to engage young people who typically have not engaged so far, in high quality YSA at scale. Key outcomes include: - Personal development of young people including key transferable skills development and improved confidence, aspirations, and wellbeing - Social impacts in local communities and improved relationships between schools and communities - A YSA-enriched curriculum and improved student engagement To help achieve our mission, Ormiston Trust have created hundreds of free resources to enable schools to achieve high quality YSA in line with the national curriculum.
