It’s that time of year again… As we wish a temporary farewell to colleagues heading to Cannes, those of us who remain still have something to look forward to. Our super competitive Heather Williams is raising money for The Children's Hospital Charity this week by competing in the Women's Double Red Bull HYROX event, in Toulouse, France on the 8th February! As we welcome the New Year, we’re excited to share our latest project in partnership with HLM Architects, Sheffield ✨ HLM’s office in the historic Grade II-listed Ruskin Building underwent a stunning transformation. HLM initially created the space plan for the new ground floor client zone, with separate upper floors designated as general office space. Collaborating with OVO, we discussed and implemented a bold design idea to cut a large void through the first floor and install a bespoke private staircase directly accessing the client zone below. A large, frameless glazed Reception lobby was installed to compliment the new Crucible Corner main entrance. The project required additional facilities, including staff showers, accessible WCs, a cycle store, a secure comms room and open breakout areas for both staff and visiting clients. The open-plan design prioritises collaboration and agile working, featuring breakout spaces, focused work areas, meeting rooms, and relaxed collaboration zones. A key aspect of the design was celebrating the building’s original architectural features, with large windows flooding the space with natural light and offering incredible views of iconic Sheffield landmarks such as the Crucible Theatre, Lyceum Theatre, Unitarian Church, and Sheffield Library. “OVO were central to all this work, being involved at the concept stage to help guide through the many options to the final completion. Working with OVO has been an enjoyable and collaborative process with an outcome that we’re all proud of.” - Studio Director at HLM, Delia Harmston A huge thank you to HLM for trusting OVO with this project and allowing us to bring their vision to life!
