Many thanks to Eva I., Caroline France, Ben Marshall, James Penny, Dr Deepak Venkateshvaran and Dr Charlotte Hoskin from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) for visiting us today and hearing about Paragraf's graphene-based electronics devices from Simon Thomas FREng, Colin Humphreys, John Tingay, Cathy Cranton and Tony Pearce at our new manufacturing site in Huntingdon. How rapidly and how much can we scale up the mass production of faster and more power-efficient microchips with advanced 2D materials? #graphene #sensors #advancedmaterials #ukmanufacturing #innovation

Last week, IBM unveiled its updated quantum roadmap, outlining their strategy for scaling and enhancing the practical applications of quantum computing: https://lnkd.in/eMm_58uS As IBM's quantum roadmap pushes towards more powerful and useful quantum systems, Paragraf's sensors could emerge as potential game-changers. Operating down to below 10 milliKelvin, these cryogenic sensors offer unparalleled precision in magnetic field measurements - a critical factor for the qubit control and error correction needed to achieve IBM's ambitious scaling goals. As the industry races towards quantum advantage, Paragraf's innovation could play a crucial role in expanding the usefulness of quantum systems across various industries by improving error mitigation in these systems: https://lnkd.in/duxTfyjX #graphene #QuantumComputing #FaultTolerance #cryogenics

Thank you and well done to Paragraf authors Disha Bandyopadhyay, Yiwei Sun, Ross Griffin and Lok Yi Lee for their collaboration on this paper just published: https://lnkd.in/efffYXQJ During Disha’s internship at Paragraf in 2023, she discovered that the use of revolve sphere levelling image processing technique on ambient scanning tunnelling microscope images could help reveal the atomic structure of graphene with greater clarity. At Paragraf, we use a range of characterisation techniques to understand the fundamental structural and electrical properties of our graphene to push the boundaries of what is possible with our devices.

Dr. Vincenzo F Curto will be presenting his poster on the breakthrough sensing applications of graphene field-effect transistors (GFETs) at #GrapheneWeek2024 https://lnkd.in/e_JBcdsX Paragraf’s electrolyte-gated GFETs show promising results for pH sensing in challenging conditions such as food & beverage industries, using a Hafnium Oxide layer for increased sensitivity. The poster also highlights potassium measurement applications, crucial in healthcare and agriculture. Testing shows selective potassium sensitivity across a wide range, proving GFETs' potential in developing sensing applications to diagnose conditions like kidney disease and high blood pressure. If you're in Prague for the event this week, make sure you stop by and speak to Vincenzo. #graphene #potassiumsensing #pHsensing

“It’s gone through the hype cycle. It’s gone up the hill, down into the big valley—and now it’s coming out as people see that it really does have value.” Paragraf Research Director Natasha Conway is quoted in Mark Peplow's story in Science Magazine about graphene's journey from hype to commercial viability.
Twenty years after its discovery, graphene is finally living up to the hype
