Downham Health & Leisure Centre’s Refurbishment is a Huge Hit! Our £350,000 refurbishment, and the feedback has been phenomenal! Our members are loving the enhanced gym facilities, with the new immersive, on-demand fitness equipment becoming a firm favourite. The IC6 indoor cycling studio, featuring cutting-edge bikes with magnetic resistance and built-in power metres, has transformed our cycling classes into an engaging and performance-driven experience! The functional training area and state-of-the-art cardio machines have also been a major success, with members praising the variety and quality of the equipment. We’re especially proud of the thoughtful design improvements, like energy-efficient lighting and modern décor, which have made the space feel welcoming and energising for everyone—from fitness enthusiasts to those just starting their journey. As we continue to receive such positive responses, we’re more inspired than ever to help our community embrace a healthy lifestyle. One Month On: The Refurbishment at Wyboston Lakes Health & Fitness Club is a Huge Success! It's been a month since we unveiled our £400,000 refurbishment, and we're thrilled with how well it's been received by our incredible members! From the new Life Fitness Cardio Aspire equipment to the newly added indoor cycling studio, we've had amazing feedback. Members are loving the fresh energy in the space and the enhanced experience the upgrades are bringing to their fitness journeys. Our newly added virtual and instructor-led classes have been a hit, giving more options and flexibility for everyone. The functional training area has also become a member favourite, with people making the most of the updated equipment and turf track. It's clear that these changes have helped us create an inclusive environment that meets the diverse needs of all our members, from fitness enthusiasts to those just starting out. As we continue to receive positive responses, we’re more committed than ever to supporting the health and wellbeing of our community. The safety and wellbeing of young children and junior athletes is a continual priority for all of our teams and partners, and we are proud to support the Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport Week, running from October 7th to the 13th 2024. This important initiative, organised by the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU), aims to educate parents, coaches, and sport organisations about how to create safe environments for children to thrive through exercise and sport. By fostering awareness around safeguarding, the scheme aims to ensure every child feels secure, respected, and empowered in their sporting and fitness journey, whatever the nature of their exercise. As a leading leisure provider, Parkwood Leisure is committed to implementing best practices in safeguarding across all of our facilities and activities. We continuously train our staff to recognise signs of abuse, promote open communication, and create inclusive environments where children feel comfortable. Supporting Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport Week aligns with our broader mission of promoting safe, fun and enriching experiences for families, ensuring that every child’s experience in sport is positive and safe. With 1 in 6 people living with a disability, we continue to ensure people from all different backgrounds respect and interact together across the communities we serve. We support the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, encouraging inclusivity, acceptance, and understanding of non-visible disabilities across our sites and services. Throughout October, our teams are undertaking Hidden Disabilities Sunflower training to enable Leisure Centre site teams to provide greater accessibility for people with non-visible disabilities. Removing barriers provides opportunities for Sunflower wearers to access our facilities and services and, ultimately, healthy lifestyle choices. Comedy Nights at Riviera International Centre – A Resounding Success!🎤 We’re thrilled to have hosted two unforgettable nights of laughter, courtesy of the Torquay Comedy Club, at our newly launched comedy events recently. Comedy legend Frankie Boyle kicked things off with an incredible show, followed by the hilarious Russell Howard! These are the first of many exciting new acts to grace our stage – and what a way to start!
