It was great to attend the Windrush International Conference in Birmingham today, organised by the Windrush National Organisation. We were invited to talk about the complaints we have received about the Windrush Compensation Scheme, which we highlighted in our latest Spotlight report: https://lnkd.in/esdfezrP Our report looks at the common themes we've seen in complaints from people who were wrongly denied compensation. We were able to raise awareness of our services at an information stand, where our Outreach and Public Engagement team were ready to answer questions about the process of making a complaint to us. Thank you for inviting us to contribute to the setting of the narrative today Bishop Dr. Desmond JADDOO MBE

“A culture of accountability where people learn from mistakes is critical to safer care and to reducing avoidable harm. The NHS needs to listen to patients and their families and must place them firmly at the centre of the care they receive. “We know that there is excellent, patient-focused work across the NHS, but it is not consistent. We hope leaders take them up to provide patient-centred care in which the NHS embraces, listens to and acts on people’s concerns.” Ombudsman Rebecca Hilsenrath welcomes the launch of the new Patient Safety Principles from the Patient Safety Commissioner Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gfSmnb8e #PatientSafety
