About us
Protein Data Bank in Europe (PDBe) provides a high-quality, up-to-date and integrated infrastructure and innovative data analysis tools for 3D macromolecular structures to support basic and applied research and education across the sciences. PDBe is a founding member of the Worldwide Protein Data Bank (wwPDB), working to collate, maintain and provide access to the global repository of macromolecular structure models, the Protein Data Bank (PDB). The PDBe group is also responsible for resources to help you find, analyse, and visualise macromolecular structure data. These include: -> PDBe-Knowledge Base: A consortium of structural bioinformatics resources providing integration and enrichment of 3D structure data and annotations -> 3D-Beacons: A consortium of macromolecular structure data providers, providing a single access point for diverse structure data. -> AlphaFold Protein Structure Database: a collaboration with Google DeepMind that gives free access to over 200 million predicted protein structures PDBe is managed by EMBL’s European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI).

Are you a computational biologist or bioinformatician who wants to learn more about how make use of European Bioinformatics Institute | EMBL-EBI resources for protein characterisation? Join us for this virtual one-day hands-on workshop and be guided through a structured, programmatic workflow using EMBL-EBI resources: https://lnkd.in/eaAq5TKa Participants will learn how to retrieve protein sequences, identify homologs, annotate functional domains, and explore structural information using REST APIs. The course emphasises programmatic access (APIs) to integrate sequence, functional, and structural data into a unified analysis pipeline. Through a step-by-step Python workflow, participants will apply different EMBL-EBI tools to analyse an example protein, gaining practical experience in automating large-scale protein data analysis. Applications close 27 April.

Artwork 🎨 inspired by zebrafish 🦓🐟. The zebrafish 🦓🐟, despite its modest appearance, has become a cornerstone of biomedical research. These small freshwater fish are now the second most widely used animal model in British research, and used in over 3,250 institutions across 100 countries. Zebrafish 🦓🐟 share approximately 70% of human genes, are easy to house and breed, produce large numbers of offspring, and develop rapidly. Their transparent embryos allow scientists to observe early-stage development in real-time, making them ideal for studying protein structure and function. ⬇️ Read more ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eBJBVcGH #SciArt #PDBart #NatureArt
