It’s not often we share news on planning approvals, however, we were thrilled to receive approval today for our proposal to extend between and above a garage at a property in a Conservation Area. The Applicant’s goal was to utilise the existing dwellings layout as much as possible, creating a connection between the dwelling and garage and building upwards, whilst enhancing its appearance using contemporary materials. Exciting News - Last Thursday our project with Kaybee Developments at North Luffenham was a finalist at the ProCon 2024 Awards for The Medium Residential Scheme of the year. The ProCon Awards showcase the best projects in Leicestershire and Rutland, therefore it is a huge achievement to have been a finalist and celebrate amongst other successes. The development of three luxury homes, also known as ‘Chater Valley View’, used local Lincolnshire limestone and although the homes have their own individualities through different design elements, they are united in their use of the highest quality materials and craftmanship. The bespoke homes optimise the use of the space and the setting, overlooking the Valley, enhancing its environment and we believe the finished products are truly beautiful. Sometimes, there is no need to extend your property, you just need to look at how you can best maximise your spaces to achieve the feel and aesthetic you desire. We recently received some images of a completed replacement conservatory we designed to a client’s house in Rippingale. We utilised existing plinth walls to build up parapet walls with a flat roof over and feature glazed lantern. The new insulated structure provides a usable space all year round with plenty of natural day light and looks in keeping with its existing host dwelling. We are delighted to announce that Evangeline Lee has joined Kirsten Brown, Colan Bartram and Paul Hutchings as a Director of the Practice. Evangeline has been involved with the Practice since 2016, working as a Part 1 and Part 2 Architectural Assistant between her studies at Lincoln University; at the beginning of 2022 she qualified as an Architect. Evangeline has worked closely with the Directors over the past 8 years in delivering high-quality services that are a core value of the Practice. She works on projects across the different sectors, including medium and small-scale housing developments, commercial projects and domestic extensions. She has developed strong client, consultant and contractor relationships during her time with the Practice. Kirsten Brown said: “We are delighted that Evie has joined us as a Director of the Practice. She has been an integral part of our team over the last 8 years and we are thrilled that she is now a Director who will help shape the future of the Practice”. We recently received images of the completed four flats in Stamford that we provided technical design services for D Brown Builders, on behalf of South Kesteven Council. The top two flats feature recessed balconies within the front elevation, whilst the ground floor flats benefit from external rear gardens. One of our Directors, Paul, has been carrying out quinquennial inspections for a number of years and the latest building he visited was in Milton Keynes at The Ecumenical Church of Christ the Cornerstone. In case you didn't know, quinquennial inspections are periodic assessments of Church buildings, typically conducted every five years to assess a buildings condition and identify any problems that require maintenance or repair! It is an interesting process and something that Paul thoroughly enjoys doing.
