At Persimmon, we are committed to leaving a lasting legacy in areas where we create new communities. 🏘️   As well as building good quality homes and creating well-paid, high-skilled jobs, our Community Champions scheme makes a real difference to people's lives. We do this by supporting local charities, sports clubs and good causes across the country.    We have 30 offices across the UK that each donate up to £6,000 every quarter to local organisations that are the lifeblood of our communities. Smaller donations are also available.   The application is straightforward and simple – making a submission to our Community Champions scheme takes less than five minutes.🕐   Find out more here:  https://lnkd.in/evMbfUt2 #PersimmonHomes #Charity

Green light for 520 new homes at Cricket Lane, #Lichfield 🏡   Approval has been granted by Lichfield District Council for the development of a new community of 520 homes at Cricket Lane, located to the south of the #Staffordshire city.   The site – delivered by our West Midlands team – will bring a range of new homes to the area, supporting the local need for quality new housing. The development will be made up of one- to five- bedroom properties. Of these homes, 35% will be transferred to a housing association partner for rent and shared ownership. A portion of the land will be kept as public open space, with enhancements including sports pitches, allotments and play areas for residents.   Along with the boost to local housing needs, the scheme will bring with it a range of community benefits. As part of the wider development at Cricket Lane, over £8.7m will be paid to support infrastructure delivery and ensure economic development.   Over £6m of this will be pledged to local education, with significant funds also given towards public transport and healthcare. Alongside these commitments, we will deliver a scheme of highway improvement works at the Swinfen junction of the A38, A5148 and London Road.   With a view to deliver more sustainable developments, all homes on this community will be fitted with air source heat pumps and offer the highest standard of insultation – with properties being around 30% more energy efficient than existing housing stock.   #PersimmonHomes

Central team funds a full year of activities for Solihull Young Carers 🤝 A young carers charity based in #Solihull has secured a £5,000 donation from our Central team, helping them to expand their services in and around the area.   Solihull Young Carers received the funding boost as part of our Community Champions initiative. The group looks after 800 young carers between the ages of five and 15 who provide unpaid caring services for their loved ones. Young carers can often struggle to balance schooling with their caring roles, which can result in challenging educational experiences.   The group has secured funding for a program to help the youngsters back into school and to improve their education experience and outcomes. Some of these activities include recruiting peer mentors, counselling sessions and events where the carers can build relationships and reward them for their hard work. Our donation will fund a full year of these social activities for the carers. #PersimmonHomes

Central team helps Bedworth pupils dig further into local history 🦺 A primary school in #Bedworth has been given an insight into local history, thanks to an archaeological dig hosted by our Central team.   Pupils at The Canons CE Primary School were invited by the developer to attend the dig, located at Hospital Lane, where Persimmon Homes has submitted plans to develop up to 455 new homes in the town.   As part of the event, pupils were given a talk from the team around the wider history of the site, as well as the Medieval and Roman artefacts that have already been found on the site and what the archaeologists are still expecting to find as part of the on-site works. The pupils were then shown a range of artefacts and resources that they could handle. #PersimmonHomes
