Celebrating China's Traditional Mid-Autumn Festival 🌕 On September 17th, we had the pleasure of hosting a Chinese-style afternoon tea in celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Our company had the unique opportunity to indulge in mooncake and tea tastings and explore the art of traditional Chinese calligraphy. This event offered a meaningful introduction to the rich history of the Mid-Autumn Festival, highlighting its deep themes of reunion, togetherness, and cultural heritage. Employees enjoyed an assortment of classic mooncake flavours, perfectly paired with traditional Chinese teas, embracing the festival’s warmth and spirit of community. To make the experience even more memorable, we invited two calligraphy teachers from the Confucius Institute to lead a hands-on class. Employees learned the fundamentals of brushwork and wrote auspicious phrases like 'Happy Mid-Autumn' and 'Blossoming Flowers' and 'Full Moon.' It was a day of cultural exploration, collaboration, and celebrating the diversity that unites us all 🥮 #midautumnfestival #mooncakes #celebration #calligraphy #petroineos #petrochina

This summer, we were delighted to welcome 15 Interns to Petroineos as part of our annual Summer Internship Programme. Joining from a wide range of Universities and areas of study, these individuals have undertaken projects across a number of business areas including Analysis, Finance and Shipping for the past 12 weeks. Interns are each assigned a project and a dedicated supervisor to support them, offering them an opportunity to work on truly impactful projects alongside experts in the energy industry, and in turn, develop key skills and valuable insights into how a trading business operates. Here is what some of our Interns had to say about their experience with us this summer: "Working in the Crude Analysis department, under the mentorship of the Crude Trading Analyst, I developed an automated tool to forecast crude differentials and freight rates for the Company's refinery planning process. Relying on my initiative and problem-solving skills, I navigated multiple datasets and created a new solution from scratch. I was encouraged to reach out to senior professionals across the oil team and developed a network across the refinery asset, crude and business data units, which was key to developing my understanding of the business and wider market. Alongside enhancing my coding skills, I frequently presented my findings to key stakeholders, helping me to appreciate the many requirements, responsibilities and high-standards of delivery when working in a successful business environment." "My time at Petroineos was invaluable in developing both my technical and professional skills. I was able to apply my existing coding expertise and work on automation processes that were implemented into the daily activity of analysts. Collaborating with, and learning from incredibly smart and supportive individuals not only broadened my perspective on the energy trading market, but also made the experience enjoyable and motivating. This internship has significantly enhanced my analytical skills and I'm excited to carry forward the knowledge, relationships and mentorship I gained into my future career." "The past 12 weeks at Petroineos have been an extremely valuable experience for me. I had the opportunity to contribute to a project that directly impacted PetroChina's business strategy, while also improving my data analysis skills. The atmosphere at Petroineos is fantastic and everyone is friendly and willing to share their experience. I had the chance to immerse myself in a dynamic environment where I could engage with experienced analysts and traders, gaining valuable insights into the industry. Being able to collaborate with my fellow interns made the experience even better." We wish all of our Interns the best of luck for the return to their studies and for their future careers! Applications for next years' programme will open in March and further details can be found via our careers site. https://lnkd.in/exQCY9ma
