Each year we provide over 290,000 children with breakthrough moments, knowing how integral a residential experience is in a young person’s development. We’ve invested heavily over the last few years to ensure from industry-leading safety and safeguarding measures to our adventurous activities, we are providing the best experience for all young people visiting our centres. And we’re proud that this has not gone unnoticed as we have been awarded School Travel Organiser Best Residential Experience at this year’s awards. Thank you to all who voted for us, stayed with us and we look forward to welcoming even more to our centres in 2025.

  • In response to teachers’ concerns about the increasing amount of time children are spending online, we have launched a programme of activities giving school pupils tools and techniques to improve their wellbeing and manage their mental health.   Our residential activity programme, THRIVE!, has been developed to provide children with a digital detox space combining traditional PGL outdoor challenges with offline wellbeing activities. The holistic approach includes yoga, mindfulness, meditation and forest bathing to help children build better connections, improve their resilience and learn to relax. https://lnkd.in/eYB59Mk9

  • Extremely proud to have been judged as compliant with the British Standards Institute PAS 5222 - Safeguarding Children in Out-of-School settings. Safety is our key priority and this is testament to the huge focus in this area to be the first outdoor education provider to achieve this.

With safety the key priority across PGL Beyond, we are delighted to announce that following an independent inspection PGL Travel has been judged as compliant with the British Standards Institute PAS 5222 - Safeguarding Children in Out-of-School settings. PGL is the first outdoor education provider to achieve this standard, which recognises organisations that implement a robust child safeguarding framework, including appropriate governance, policies, processes and procedures. We are proud that our CEO Anthony Jones and Head of Safeguarding & SEND Gemma Roberson were able to receive the official accreditation from BramahHR Ltd, which along with our voluntary Ofsted registration is further external acknowledgement of our commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of our young guests at all times.”

  • Our Talent Acquisition Team Leader, Chris Whitehead, welcomed the LFC Foundation team to our Boreatton Park centre as part of our new partnership with the charity.   We’re working with the team on a two-week employability programme, where applicants will take part in a sports coaching course and training such as CV writing and interview skills, ready to start their careers at PGL in September.   We can’t wait to welcome the applicants and support them with the opportunity to successfully enter the workplace.

  • Our Bawdsey Manor centre is steeped in history and was a key location during both World War I and II. Back in 1936 it was used as a research base for radar and shortly afterwards became RAF Bawdsey, and remained an RAF base until 1991.    We are proud that each year year we welcome back members of RAF Bawdsey Reunion Association who served their country from the Suffolk base and this year the anniversary coincided with the commemoration of the D Day landings.

  • With over 65 years of experience in creating enriching experiences for young people we know that a first trip away from home can not only be be a little daunting for children, but for parents too! So, to help reassure them, we held our first ever live virtual Kids' Camps parents’ evening! Parents joined a Q&A session with members of the team to learn more about Kids’ Camps and several important parts of a PGL trip, from safeguarding to the centre experience and more. They also had the chance to hear first hand from children who have been on Kids' Camps and their experiences.   It was fantastic to have time with parents to hear what is important to them and how we can best support them ahead of their children's first adventure!
