Feedback is more than just a conversation- it helps us understand our strengths, behaviors, and how our actions impact others. Whether it’s positive reinforcement or constructive guidance, feedback fuels positive change and helps us sharpen our skills when delivered effectively. 🚀 But how do you ensure your feedback truly makes an impact? LeeAnn Renninger 's 4-step formula provides a simple yet powerful framework: 😉 Micro Yes - Kick off the feedback by asking a short, but crucial, question. Something like, “I have some ideas on how we can improve this. Can I share them with you?” This small ask prepares the other person for the feedback and creates a space for a productive conversation. 📍 Data Point - Stick to the facts. Clearly outline what you observed without adding any subjective judgment. Avoid vague terms like “You were being defensive.” Instead, break it down into specific actions or words, making it easier for the person to understand and adjust their behavior. 💥 Show Impact - Connect the dots by explaining how the specific behavior impacted you or the team. For example, “Because I didn’t get the message, I was unable to move forward with my work.” This helps the person see the real-world effects of their actions. 💡 End on a question - Wrap up by inviting dialogue. Questions like “How do you see it?” or “What are your thoughts on this?” turn feedback into a collaborative problem-solving session rather than a one-sided critique. Effective leaders don’t just give feedback—they seek it out and embrace it. It’s this open exchange of ideas that fosters a culture of continuous improvement and mutual respect. Let’s turn feedback into a tool for growth, not just an obligation. 🌱 Want to learn more?
