    What's the most important skill you should look for when hiring junior salespeople? ⭐️ COACHABILITY ⭐️ In a fast-paced, ever-evolving field like sales, having the right attitude towards learning and improvement, for me, will ALWAYS outweigh technical skills or product knowledge. Not convinced? Here are 4 reasons to change your mind 👇 1️⃣ Adaptability - markets change, strategies shift, and sales techniques evolve. Coachable people are flexible and quick to adapt to new approaches. 2️⃣ Growth mindset - they take feedback as an opportunity to grow, not as criticism. This attitude helps them improve faster than someone who thinks they know it all or who is too afraid to be anything but perfect. 3️⃣ Resilience - rejection is part of sales. Coachable salespeople learn how to handle setbacks, refining their approach with each experience, instead of getting discouraged. 4️⃣ Teamwork - they listen to more experienced colleagues and mentors, applying insights from those who’ve been there and done it. Skills can be taught, but the desire to learn and improve can’t. Which is why we've revamped our assessment process to test for exactly this.     Hiring a founder’s associate sucks… but you should do it! 👀 I’ve been interviewing dozens of enthusiastic and impressive candidates. Some have years of relevant experience and others are student superstars who’ve done way more than I did at their stage. It’s obvious they’re well prepared and they send thoughtful notes post-interview. It sucks because we’ll need to say no to most of them even though they’d be great. We’re spoiled for choice :). (Wish we could afford to hire more) The founder’s associate will be our generalist right hand who we can trust to represent our brand and voice! 1000s of founders follow me.     Material Index would like to welcome Oliver Lawson to the team as our Material Exchange Lead. As material brokering and reuse ramps up at Material Index, the operational complexity inevitably increases, so we sought to onboard a team member with experience in this area. Oliver developed his operations and strategy expertise working in his family business, which specialises in the supply of high end Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) equipment to the luxury greenhouse industry. Oliver further developed his operations experience, building a team and leading the UK launch of Foodtech company Foodles. Enabling reuse in construction relies on three key aspects (1) knowing what is in your building*, (2) identifying pathways, and (3) understanding how to disassemble, move, store & certify materials. *please reach out for audits Understanding disassembly, packing, storage and logistics are key to ensuring reuse of materials can happen. We love Oliver's 'get it done attitude'; he's not afraid to roll up his sleeves to get stuck in and we are really pleased to have him in the team to lead in the materials side of our business.     Feeling a bit stuck in recruitment? It’s a pretty common dilemma, especially when looking to switch to a sales role. Is selling people the same as selling products? Does it matter that I’ve never done B2B SaaS? Sure, I know the fin-tech industry inside & out but does that really mean I can sell in it? Last week, I ran some numbers and discovered something pretty surprising: nearly a third of this year's sales stream alumni (those who’ve landed new sales roles via Jumpstart) came from recruitment backgrounds. In the past few weeks alone we’ve seen: 👉 Charlotte transition from exec search to the GTM team at Userled 👉 David leverage his experience in education recruitment to secure a role as an Account Executive at Qured 👉 Shannon swap health-tech recruitment for software sales at CV Partner Proof that maybe the leap from recruitment to sales isn’t that daunting after all? #recruitmenttosales #salesstream

    You know that person who won't stop talking about that time they went travelling.   Well it's time we say sorry.   Because over the last couple of weeks, we've been guilty of not shutting up about the Big Startup 5K.   But we're not taking all the responsibility.     𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗝𝗨𝗠𝗣𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝟱𝗞 Last week, we were at the Jumpstart Battersea 5K, where we had the pleasure of offering our lager and Hazy IPA to all the finishers. Jumpstart is all about making startup careers accessible for everyone, whether you’re a recent graduate or a seasoned professional. In just two years, they’ve launched over 200 startup careers, helping people push their limits. It was inspiring to see so many startups come together, test their boundaries, and celebrate with a well-deserved Lucky Saint, all in one place. Cheers to everyone who took part, and here’s to more events like these in the future.
