#PlanetSmartCity is pleased to announce its role as part of the Temporary Business Grouping that won the prestigious international C40 #ReinventingCities competition, promoted by the Municipality of #Bologna and FS Sistemi Urbani, part of the FS Italiane Group.   Together with Nhood Services Italy, an international real estate solutions company specializing in commercial #realestate and urban regeneration, we will contribute to the success of the Green Soul urban #regeneration project, which is focused on transforming Bologna's Ravone-Prati railway hub. Planet Smart City will contribute to the project's success by shaping the Green Soul Hub, a space for active citizenship, #community welfare, and the new economy. We aim to create a well-connected and thriving community through services like district concierge, support for micro-entrepreneurship, and activities for residents.  The project will deliver around 270 affordable homes, 110 #socialhousing units, and over 40,000 square meters of green space, all powered by renewable energy. It sets a new standard for sustainable urban living, focusing on decarbonization and community well-being.  Planet Smart City continues to drive #innovation in smart urban developments worldwide, creating smart, inclusive neighbourhoods that improve quality of life while promoting #sustainability and social cohesion. #PlanetSmartCity was proud to serve as a #GreenPartner at the #TerraMadre2024 - Salone del Gusto event, from 26 to 30 September, in #Turin, collaborating with Slow Food to promote a shared vision of sustainable living. Our innovative Smart Urban Garden was on display, blending the "smart & slow" concept to raise awareness about the importance of integrating technology with nature for harmonious and sustainable urban life. Our garden attracted a steady stream of visitors throughout the event, highlighting the public's interest in sustainable food production and green living. This engagement reinforces the impact of our work in reconnecting communities with the environment.  We also enjoyed hosting a workshop for school classes and families, welcoming young participants from Italy and worldwide. Through interactive activities like our Smart Mix game, we introduced them to the principles of sustainable living and the joys of growing their food.  This edition of Terra Madre was a valuable opportunity to showcase Planet's commitment to #sustainability and #innovation. We thank Slow Food for the partnership and everyone who engaged with our initiatives, reinforcing our shared vision for a more sustainable and inclusive future. 

Our Smart Gardens in #Italy, #India and #Brazil are more than just green spaces: they integrate cutting-edge #technology for sustainable irrigation and promote intergenerational engagement.  At #TerraMadre2024 - Salone del Gusto, we will showcase this innovative project, which merges tradition and technology, supporting the development of more cohesive communities that are conscious of their environmental impact. 

We recently participated in PropTech Connect, Europe's largest real estate tech event in #London. Susannah Stewart, Chief Innovation & Sustainability Officer of Planet Forward, Pietro Putetto, CEO of #PlanetSmartCity's Advisory Unit, and Stephen Dunphy, Global Head of #IoT of Planet Smart City, shared their insights on how #technology and #data can transform the #realestate sector. Susannah discussed the need to embed #social value into real estate projects to foster more inclusive communities and how to overcome the challenges in urban development. Pietro highlighted the role of data strategies in improving building operations, while Stephen focused on maximising the benefits of smart building technology. Offered by Politecnico di Torino and the Turin School of Development (#ILO), this program is designed for professionals looking to deepen their expertise in emerging technologies and their role in global sustainability efforts. The curriculum covers key topics such as urban innovation, digital technologies, green transition, and sustainable agriculture. This master's program provides a unique opportunity to engage with a global network of experts and practitioners in international development. Combining theoretical and practical learning, it equips participants with the skills to lead impactful projects addressing complex global challenges. From September 26th to 30th, 2024, we’ll be at Parco Dora in #Turin, #Italy for the leading global event dedicated to good, clean, and fair food. This year’s theme, "We Are Nature," perfectly aligns with our dedication to sustainable development and smart community building. We’re pleased to announce that we will be #Green Partners at this event, curating the area of the urban gardens at the events. This partnership underscores our commitment to integrating human activities with nature, and we aim to use this opportunity to promote sustainable living practices and reconnect communities with the #environment. The theme "We Are Nature" is a powerful reminder of our shared mission to create communities where human actions are in harmony with the natural world. We are proud to contribute to this significant initiative and look forward to engaging in meaningful discussions and finding impactful solutions.   

We are very pleased about the successful course of the UN Environment Programme-funded #D2FX project so far, a transformative initiative in #SmartCityLaguna and #SmartCityAquiraz, Brazil. This project, part of the Demand-Driven Electricity Networks Initiative (#3DEN) supported by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Italian government, has set a new standard in integrating renewable #energy solutions within affordable housing. The D2FX project involved the installation of distributed photovoltaic panels, energy storage systems, and air conditioning units as dispatchable loads. These phygital systems, which combine physical and digital elements, have been crucial in creating an eco-friendly living environment, optimising energy use, and significantly lowering energy costs for residents.     In Smart City Laguna, these efforts have enhanced energy efficiency and a more sustainable living environment. The focus on digital integration through the #PlanetApp has empowered residents to monitor and adjust their energy usage in real time, promoting energy literacy and contributing to the postponement of electricity grid retrofitting.  Meanwhile, in Smart City Aquiraz, the D2FX project has optimised energy use and contributed to the stability of the local distribution grid.     This strategic collaboration with #UNEP, #MASE, and the #IEA underscores #PlanetSmartCity's commitment to building sustainable, energy-efficient communities. Looking back on the first half of 2024, #PlanetSmartCity has been active at key industry conferences, demonstrating our commitment to #smart, #sustainable #urban development. At #MIPIM2024 in Cannes, we showcased our cutting-edge digital and advisory capabilities, focusing on how smart technology can transform real estate. During the #ULI event in Milan, our COO of Real Estate, Cristian Celin, gave an engaging presentation on the importance of #affordablehousing and the #social experience in #realestate. The discussions at ULI, which focused on urban regeneration and sustainable development, dovetailed perfectly with our focus on community-driven design and #ESG criteria in real estate. At the 9th Global Conference on #Energy Efficiency in Nairobi, organised by the International Energy Agency (IEA), our Chief Research and Product Design Officer, Graziella Roccella, and Deputy Head of the Grant Unit, Stefano Fava, highlighted the key role played by digital services in improving energy efficiency and promoting #socialinclusion, as exemplified by the UNEP funded #D2FX project undertaken in Planet #SmartCityAquiraz and #SmartCityLaguna, in Brazil. Finally, at the European Federation for Living (EFL) 2024 Spring Conference in #Turin, we explored how global organisations can improve urban life and well-being through technological innovation. Hosted at our headquarters in Turin, the conference included workshops and a site visit to our Milan #smartdistricts.
