Their findings show that the community-owned business sector is a growing sector—a testament to the power of local ownership and collaboration. At Trulocom, we're inspired to integrate the concept of community-owned businesses into the Heathbourne Green stewardship model. In new developments, we’ve seen that strong local social networks not only improve life satisfaction but can also contribute to safer, more cohesive neighbourhoods. Through this approach, we aim to foster meaningful inclusion and a shared sense of belonging among new and existing communities alike. Community-owned businesses are growing in number and remain a robust, sustainable model, according to research published today by Plunkett UK. 📈 According to our new report, 'Community Ownership: A Better form of Business', the sector saw its biggest single year of growth since before the pandemic. The incredible volunteer run and managed Huby & Sutton Community Shop and Post Office received a runners up award in the Plunkett UK Rural Business Awards in the Keeping it Local category. We open 7 days a week and all shop activity is done by 50+ volunteers. There was an incredible array of Community businesses at the awards event, proving the vibrancy of the sector.
