  • ⛴️ OFAC has once again targeted vessels acting on behalf of Chinese "teapot" refineries—continuing a clear enforcement trend.  📌 Deep Blue Intelligence had already identified all of today’s designated vessels.  📌 On average, our clients were aware of these vessels a year in advance.  📌 96% of in-scope vessels designated by OFAC have been on our list first. Today's action targeted vessels from four different fleets, including all vessels managed by Brecalin Hong Kong Co Ltd., a sanctioned entity. However, Deep Blue Intelligence continues to track at least 10 other tankers linked to the remaining fleets that have yet to be designated. 🔎 What’s next? We anticipate more sanctions targeting Iranian vessels. Staying ahead of these developments is critical—not just for compliance, but to avoid catastrophic financial and operational risks. The designation of a cargo or chartered vessel while in transit can lead to millions in damages. With PurpleTRAC's Deep Blue Intelligence, you get proactive maritime threat intelligence—empowering you to act before sanctions hit. AIS tracking by Pole Star Defense reveals key insights into the SOLONG (IMO: 9322554) container ship collision with the U.S.-flagged tanker STENA IMMACULATE (IMO: 9693018).  Key Findings:  ➡️ Speed Concern: SOLONG maintained 16 knots for 78 minutes before impact, only reducing to 15 knots prior to collision.  ➡️ Post-Impact: Initial speed recorded at 7.2 knots at 09:47:04 UTC, reaching a full stop over 13 minutes later. ➡️  No Course Adjustments: Despite eight anchored vessels nearby, no evasive maneuvering or external influence was detected, indicating potential navigational miscalculation, loss of situational awareness, or possible mechanical limitations. Confidence Level: Moderate to High Analysis is based on AIS-derived data from satellite, terrestrial, and shipborne receivers by Pole Star Defense. Further insights could be gained from VDR recordings and bridge communications.  🔎 For in-depth analysis and maritime intelligence solutions, contact Pole Star Defense. Our team specializes in advanced AIS tracking, geospatial intelligence, and maritime domain awareness solutions to support operational and investigative needs. #MaritimeSafety #AISTracking #CollisionAnalysis #SOLONG #STENA #PoleStarDefence #MaritimeSecurity

In the past 48 hours, U.S. forces have launched over 170 airstrikes on Houthi-controlled sites in Yemen, targeting missile and drone capabilities. This follows the Houthis’ renewed attacks on Israeli-linked vessels in response to Israel’s blockade of Gaza. 🔴 Retaliation & Rising Risks The Iran-backed Houthis have vowed to target all U.S. warships in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea. On 17 March, they launched 18 missiles and a drone at the USS Harry S. Truman and its fleet – all intercepted by U.S. forces. ⚠ How Should Ships Respond? With these growing security risks, managing AIS (Automatic Identification System) transmissions is critical: ✅ Regulate Transmission Frequency – Adjust broadcasts based on threat levels. ✅ Limit Shared Information – Only transmit essential data (identity, position, speed, safety info). ✅ Use Silent Mode When Necessary – Reduce visibility but reactivate AIS during attacks. 🔹 Advanced Security Solutions 🔹 Pole Star Global, in partnership with Ambrey, offers a Ship Security Alert Service (SSAS) via the Podium platform – delivering real-time alerts on potential threats to keep vessels protected. With Pole Star’s tracking technology and Ambrey’s operational expertise, vessels remain compliant, connected, and secure. The SSAS is designed to deliver real-time alerts on potential security threats, enabling stakeholders to take prompt action and implement necessary precautions. AIS-derived vessel position data, as provided by Pole Star Defense, indicates that the Madeira-flagged container ship, SOLONG (IMO: 9322554) maintained a maximum reported speed of 16 knots for approximately 78 minutes while approaching the US-flagged anchored tanker, STENA IMMACULATE (IMO: 9693018). The vessel was only able to reduce its speed to 15 knots prior to impact. Upon collision, AIS data recorded an initial post-impact speed of 7.2 knots at 09:47:04 UTC, with the vessel decelerating to a full stop over 13 minutes, reaching zero speed at 10:00:10 UTC.   AIS tracking further indicates that eight anchored vessels in close proximity did not influence the container ship’s course alterations prior to impact, suggesting a lack of evasive maneuvering or external interference. The vessel’s inability to significantly reduce speed before impact and the absence of course alterations despite multiple stationary vessels in the vicinity may indicate navigational miscalculation, loss of situational awareness, or potential mechanical limitations.   Confidence Level: Moderate to High This assessment is based on AIS-derived speed and positional data collected and processed by Pole Star Defense, utilizing satellite, terrestrial, and dynamic (shipborne) receivers. While AIS provides a reliable record of vessel movements, additional sources such as VDR (Voyage Data Recorder) or bridge communications could further clarify contributing factors.   For further inquiries or to request additional analysis, please contact Pole Star Defense. Our team specializes in advanced AIS tracking, geospatial intelligence, and maritime domain awareness solutions to support operational and investigative needs. #sales@polestardefense.com
