Last week our Managing Partner Donal McElwee spoke at the #GAINAISummit in Riyadh. Joined by Michael Keane, they discussed how AI is being used in the Sport sector, how sports organisations and teams can really make the best use of AI and which emerging technologies will have the greatest impacts on sport in the next 5-10 years. GAIN is the leading platform for advancing the global discussion on AI and provided a great opportunity to put the sporting landscape at the heart of that discussion. As AI continues to grow in importance for all sport, Portas proud to be leading the conversation in how AI can help transform the sporting landscape. To find out more, do reach out to our own Sam Lake.

🏃♀️ Women’s sport is proving to be a high return asset class for sponsors who are not only promoting their brand but also creating meaningful impact: •Brand Preference: 29% of consumers have a more favorable view of brands supporting women’s sports. •Consumer Engagement: Sponsors see a higher likelihood of purchase, with a 16% increase among partners of female sports. •Youth Appeal: Women’s sports are gaining popularity, especially among younger audiences, with 44% of them preferring women’s sports over men’s. 🌟 The Middle East market is projected to grow 33% in the next 5 years. A range of dynamics are at play: •National Strategies: Significant national investments catalyze growth featuring major events like the AFC Asian Cup and FIFA World Cup, superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, and new IP created locally. •Market Orientation: Emirates and Qatar Airways have historically deployed value globally though new IP provides improved localized opportunities. #WomensSports #MiddleEast #SportsSponsorship #MarketInfluence #PortasConsulting

    Sports strategy at Portas Consulting

In our work at Portas Consulting, we sometimes observe partnerships that do not fully resonate with core audiences of the brand or sponsored property. On the other hand, often you can immediately tell "THAT'S IT" - think: 🥇 Procter & Gamble and International Olympic Committee – IOCParis Saint-Germain and Air Jordan What's the secret sauce? 🔍 Rightsholders can take a four step approach to defining their go to market strategy: - Set Goals: Start by clearly defining your objectives—whether it’s increasing revenue, expanding reach, or boosting brand value. - Optimize Assets: Identify and categorize valuable assets to craft attractive sponsorship offers. - Pick The Right Partner: Seek partners that align with your values and market needs to create meaningful collaborations. - Operational Efficiency: Enhance your operations to ensure efficient data management and partner relations, setting the stage for successful sponsorships. Sports strategy at Portas Consulting

I'm excited to share some of our latest analysis on sports sponsorship at Portas Consulting, which touches on 2 major trends in the space: 🏃♀️ Women’s sport is proving to be a high return asset class for sponsors who are not only promoting their brand but also creating meaningful impact: - Brand Preference: 29% of consumers have a more favorable view of brands supporting women’s sports. - Consumer Engagement: Sponsors see a higher likelihood of purchase, with a 16% increase among partners of female sports. - Youth Appeal: Women’s sports are gaining popularity, especially among younger audiences, with 44% of them preferring women’s sports over men’s.   🌟 The Middle East market is projected to grow 33% in the next 5 years. A range of dynamics are at play: - National Strategies: Significant national investments catalyze growth featuring major events like the AFC Asian Cup and FIFA World Cup, superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, and new IP created locally. - Market Orientation: Emirates and Qatar Airways have historically deployed value globally though new IP provides improved localized opportunities. Really interesting to see answers to my most burning questions: 1. How will sponsorship strategies evolve as women's sport reaches mainstream globally? 2. What will be the scale of pivot from global to regional by Middle Eastern brands as the sector inevitably matures? 🌍 Our assessment of the sports sponsorship sector values it at $57 billion today. There are a range of dynamics at play: •Growing Opportunity: Sports sponsorship value expected to reach $87 billion by 2030. •Geographic Dominance: North America and Europe capture >60% of value. •Sport-by-Sport Analysis: Football (Soccer) accounts for a third of the total market value. •Buyers – Corporate Brands: Beverages, financial services, and tech form > 50% of total sponsorship spend. •Sellers - Rightsholders: >70% of value is concentrated in clubs and federations. ⚡️ Sponsorship partners are increasingly demanding more data-driven strategies, innovative assets, and purpose-driven collaborations. #SportsSponsorship #MarketTrends #GlobalInsights #PortasConsulting

Updated Euro 2024 simulations for the knockouts: England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 still favourites despite some underwhelming attacking performances so far thanks to being placed in the kinder half of the draw. Spain 🇪🇸 second favourites after a strong group stage. 🇳🇱 🇫🇷 🇩🇪 🇵🇹 all with a similar chance. As with England, the Netherlands benefit from being in the 'easier' side of the draw despite having a lower rating than the other top teams.
