“One of the best bits of being a foster carer is the relationship you develop with the children.” Foster carers Vicki and Kevin have cared for over 50 children, young people and siblings through respite care, short-term and emergency foster placements, supported lodgings, or parent and child arrangements. These included caring for newborns, teens and pre-teens, and children with additional needs for a period of just a few weeks up to 2 years. Our foster carers are able to find the right fit of fostering for them and their families whether that is a short-term or longer term arrangement until the child or young person is ready to live independently or be reunited with family. Vicki declared for anyone considering fostering: “Go for it! There are lots of ‘what ifs’, but all of those can be sorted during the assessment process.” Read on: https://lnkd.in/e4qTHdkx #typesofcare #fostering #portsmouth #hampshire

We have a brilliant opportunity at Portsmouth City Council to join us as our Head of Compliance! This newly created role is part of our Building Services of the Housing, Neighbourhood and Building Services Directorate, who are responsible for the ongoing repair, maintenance and statutory compliance of our stock of over 15,000 Council homes, 2,000 leasehold properties as well as nearly 900 corporate assets located in Portsmouth and the surrounding areas. The role sits in a new service area and whilst some of the roles are in place, you will play an important role in recruiting to and shaping the new service area, providing strategic leadership, developing and implementing new strategies and polices, and managing a period of significant change. Due to the stock profile and age, alongside increasing regulation and new legalisation, we are at a pivotal point in the strategic management of our stock. With limited opportunities to increase the funding envelope alongside increasing demand it will be vital that you are able to drive efficiency in how our compliance activities are undertaken whilst ensuring that resident and building user safety is your number one priority. . The role will be challenging, however, it represents an exciting opportunity to play a significant part in shaping the future direction of the Councils housing stock and bring change and modernisation to the service to ensure a safer portfolio. Plan your journey during August bank holiday weekend in Portsmouth! Whether you're a local resident or a festivalgoer, we're encouraging everyone to think about alternative travel options like walking, cycling, renting e-scooters and e-bikes, or using public transport. The bank holiday weekend is always a busy time for Portsmouth, so if you're coming into the city, consider using the park and ride service from Junction 1 on the M275. Regular buses will be running to the city centre and seafront all weekend long. For those attending Victorious Festival, there’s a dedicated festival park and ride from Lakeside North Harbour to Clarence Pier. Festival organisers are committed to greener travel, so there’s no onsite parking. There will be some road closures and limited parking near the festival site for everyone’s safety, so please check the signs and avoid parking in prohibited areas. For full details of all parking restrictions and road closures, visit https://lnkd.in/eZS3ZMHw
